There is a technical service bulletin for this problem.(tsb# 05-55-003) The blend door inside the heater box is binding and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the dash has to be removed and the a.c. refrigerant removed in order to remove the heater box.
I already have purchased the blend door and the linkage for my son,s 2003 Lancer. I will be doing the job in about a week.

Remove the knob and check it...sometimes the inner metal part breaks...use a plier to turn it...if it does work....replace the knob

You have to pull the control knobs off the panel they should come right off. mine did then you can take the 2 screws out. there is a storage area right below your ac controls and ther are 2 screws for on the top of this. Remove them then you can remove this portion of the dash and access your control module. be carefull not to damage the connections when removing this module. they are plastic and not very well designed. I had this problem with my Lancer and found out ther hard way good luck.

i bought a used 2004 mitsubishi lancer ls sportback with the same problem. a google search told me this was a known defect and was covered under a dealer recall--no cost to me. my local dealer did the job. it took at least a half day--the entire dash, they said, had to be removed. the fix isn't perfect, but it is light years above and beyond what it was b4. the new knobs aren't silky smooth, but the old ones needed tools to turn!

My climate control knob that turns from cold to hot is broken. Can that be fixed and if so, How can I fix it/

The best way to fix this is to order a new knob from the Mitsubishi dealer near you. They are usually less than $10 and easy to pull off and install. Have your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) handy when you call to ensure you get the correct part. Tell the parts person you have the VIN and he'll be able to get you the part you need.

AC/Heater control valve :Lancer 2003 Misubishi

The sliding switch on the console is stuck in the cold position and the knob is pulled off. Use pliers to jiggle the switch as best you can. Feel under the center console and you probably will find the cable that is hooked up to the flapper. You'll know because when you jiggle the cold/heater switch at the upper console, the cable will move slightly. At the hookup of the cable to the flapper down under the console (passenger side) try to work the flapper loose to the open (or close) position. At the same time work the sliding switch (with pliers). The flapper will come loose and function properly. Try not to knock of the AC button like I did in the process. It flew off some where under the passenger seat. I'll find it sometime before summer. Ha.

You have a broken mounting at the end of the cable,at the housing thats why the temp. control knob doesnt work, you can remove the center console to gain access to pivot the broken piece manually and try to modify it so you can attach the cablr

Condensation inside car (Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 Equippe 4dr)

You might want to check to see if your heater core, which is located under the dash and inside the car, is not leaking. Look to see if you have a wet rug on the passenger side. If it is not leaking then try turning you vent knob to outside air and not recirculating.
