Sounds like we have a squealer!!!!! Aren't those annoying? First of all....pop open the hood and take a gander at the belt.....it should have horizontal ribs in it with no vertical cracks....a bad dry belt will look kinda like a dried up snakeskin.....kinda like the salt flats.....all cracked and such.....if you can see the belt in that bad of shape then GREAT!!! that's the problem.....if not then we either have a pulley goin out somewhere or possibly an ac clutch starting to sign off......HOPE I HELPED!!!

You have to replace the belt to get the best result. However, you can apply belt dressing at the belt. and at
the same time, tighten it up. You maybe able to correct
the screaming sound.

Tip

Squeaking of belt noise

A use tip for all car owners. no specific model/make.

The Belt of the a/c to the solenoid pulley or the main belts can create a lot of squeaking noise.
Start the car to hear the noise now pour some water into the belt and the noise will subside off . You have the noise confirmed of a belt as sometimes it will trick you to think of water pump bearings, alternator bearings or even engine noises.
Stop the engine and check for play in the belt if so tighten the belt If not use some chalk power or candle wax to be rubbed into the belt that was making the noise - the a/c drive belt - or the main belts..
Now start and check . the nosie would be reduced or gone.
You can have the belts changed sooner or later.

2010 Elantra, started with a high pitched sound turning left. Did that for a few days, then started when turning right. Now same noise is cooming for about 10 seconds. Not immediately on start up but

You may need to check the belts on your car's power steering section. Make sure the belts are tight and not worn out. Check for cracks on the belt and if loose, tighten it. There is also a product called Automotive belt dressing that you can spray on the belt to make it stick more easily to the pulley it is supposed to turn.

Can't find the source of the squeal

Year make and model ??
The belt could be glazed and slipping even if it is tight.
You could have a weak belt tensioner too.
The noise when the ac or heat is turned on can be the extra load from the ac compressor or the alternator. The compressor cycles on and off especially in defrost mode.
The load from the alternator is the first noise of the day. As the belt warms up it becomes better at handling the load of the accessories.
Even tho the belt looks fine, you may have to replace it to get rid of the noise.

I'm making a guess that if this is a noise that gets better (but doesn't go away) once the car has warmed up, you probably have one or more tappets that are out of adjustment. I have a feeling that they are hydraulic tappets on this vehicle. You are going to have to either try to trace the offending ones or swap out the lot if they are hydraulic.

the noise is the alternator belt, what maybe going on is you need an alternator. it could be that there is a bearing that is ceasing up when it cools down and when you start it up it takes a min. to get spinning and this is causing to much drag on the belt and making it squeal.

yoy could have a bad t belt tensioner or bad t belt pulley. get this looked into right away. you have what is known as an inteference engine. if you lose that belt for any reason, it WILL drop a valve, and your're looking at a lot of money for an job.
