Question about 2006 Buick Lucerne

1 Answer

Battery died for no reason

Vehicle is a 2006 Buick Lucerne which I bought in June with 24000 mi.
Battery died for no reason. Cars been running great (30000 mi). It would not start one morning, battery was dead,dead.dead. Called for tow to local shop, battery charged overnight and everything seems fine now (3 days later). I did notice that the XM satellite radio does not work since the charge; the 3 month trial had evidently expired. Could there be a connection between the radio disconnection and the dead battery?

About the only thing you can do is disconnect the battery and connect them again after 5 minutes. If that do not work check for blown fuse. Other than that then the XM radio has been damaged by the charger.

My transmission light keeps coming on and off in 2006 Buick Lucerne but Battery keeps dying and remote start won't work Mechanic said battery was fine so what could it be

run fault codes and look for a problem sensor/ module in the transmission. have a test done on the alternator output by an accredited auto electrician and have a load test done on the battery while you are there.

Can I jump start and older truck from my 2006 buick lucerne?

If the Buick and the truck both use twelve volt batteries you can jump start them. Just be sure to connect the cables correctly and start the engine of the good vehicle after connection and rev the engine slightly, while cranking the dead vehicle.

What is the battery life expectancy for the 2006 Buick Lucerne?

Battery life is a very complicated issue, there are TONS of factors. High temperature kills batteries, if the fluid goes low, that kills batteries. If you forget and leave lights on, and the battery goes totally dead, (totally dead, zippo, not anything) that kills batteries.

Alternator diodes that fail kills batteries. So 4 to 8 years is typical life IN ABSENCE of the above types of issues. My favorite battery is Interstate. They just work really well. Costco has great battery prices, bumpy for service... Really Dislike Sears die easy.

I have a 2006 Buick Lucerne 3800 that I think has started to take exessive oil. it has 48000 miles and will take a quart in abot 4000 miles. I know thats not alot but at 24000 miles it didn't take a quart...

It should be minimal between oil changes. Even at 5,000 mile intervals you shouldnt see hardly any consumption. My 04 Avalanche has 88,000 and I just changed mine at 5K and didnt see any consumption. Look at the filter and drain plug on the pan and see if either of them are loose. Inspect around valve covers for leaks as well.

Unfortunately, the dealership will be a waste of time They will tell you that is normal and not to worry about it.

Go to you local Auto Zone or Advance Auto and have them scan for codes. They will do the scan at no cost to you.
Let me know what the codes are and we can go from there.
