Question about 2003 Volkswagen Passat
Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect. If the code light comes on, go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. You may have helped fix a problem, but not the one that lite up the warning light.

If that was the original problem then all you need to do is go to a parts store and they can use their scanner to turn it off. I have never been charged for this. The dealer will charge you. If you just want it to go away and have not fixed the problem then most likely it will come right back on.
I would go have it scanned at a parts store and make sure what you did fixed the problem and then have it turned off at the same time.
