Question about 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

Engine runs extremely rough when 1st started in the morning.

Every morning when the engine is started it runs rough as if a one or more of the cylinders isn't firing . After about 10 minutes it warms up and runs fine the rest of the day. My guess is that problem lies in one or more of the spark plug coils. Can you advise?

It's running extremely rich. Have the fuel pressure and fuel pump checked.

Black smoke from exhaust, rough idle, black soot on plugs

signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator-- the vehicle will run rough, the engine will not start ( usually in the mornings,) many times engine starts but stalls shortly after starting. a bad regulator can result in fouled plugs. replacement is only cure. 1- black soot on plugs-2-black smoke from tailpipe-3- running rough-4- stalling, good-day! repost if need be.

Cold start-extremely rough idle-Shakes,smell fuel

Black smoke means buring rich. Have the vehicle's ECU scanned for codes and do the repair the codes describe. I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say Mass Air Flow Sensor.(MAF)

Car starts poorly during cold mornings. The idle

Sounds like a cold start valve (which is actually an additional injector in the intake to assist in cold starting) If you can get it to your local prts store while the light is on they will read the codes for free and tell you what the car thinks is amiss.
