Question about 1997 Ford F350 Crew Cab
The best way to change the pump is to remove the fuel filter housing. Unhook all fuel lines from the housing and then unplug the electrical fittings. two bolts hold the housing down, remove them and pull the housing out of the way. Now you cn remove the fuel pump. I woulg replace all the rubber fuel line when it is out. It is easier to put everything back together if you spray WD-40 on the inside of all the hoses.

The lift pump itself needs to be inspected, either its got loose or cracked. There is one way valve in the lift pump if its blocked/ stuck closed then fuel will drain out .The lift pump needs to be taken out and checked.-------- The lift pump, the valve and the lift pump fitting needs to be inspected. This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

do not worry about draining it, pour about 6 to 8 ounces of engine oil in it, and top it up with fresh fuel, it will be fine. The only way to drain the tank is to remove it and turn it over.

in this case i would say you have a broken wire to the pump, check the wire/retrace it and see if you can see any break if in doubt replace it.adrian,,,,
