There should be a tensioner that allows you to put it back on by pushing it down with a wrench makin it easy to put it back on
Slacken of the altanator first then fit the belt thentake up thje slack and re tighten
First off.....make sure the alternator pulley is the same size as the old one...if not then exchange the pulleys from the old one to the new one. If the pulleys are the same size then make sure the belt is the same size also if you replaced the serpentine belt...and then all you have to do is route the belt correctly...the diagram for the belt routing is under the hood on a white label...try using a longer ratchet to get more torque on the belt tensioner so it's easier for you...
