Question about Nissan Maxima

Open Question

2001 Nissan Maxima, runs good some times, cuts out over 2000 rpm most of the time. When I go to crank it, it runs smooth at around 1200 rpm, then after about a minute it starts slowing down and cutting out. When I say cutting out over 2000 rpm, I mean that its like going down the road and trying to speed up a little like to pass someone, and it's like the computer cuts the engine back to an idle. I can ease off the accelerator pedal and it will start picking up again. I changed the throttle position sensor, I thought this was doing it, but it didn't seem to help. One odd thing that I have noticed is if I change the grade of gas it runs better for a day or two. I usually run high test in it, sometimes going to the middle grade will help. But after a day or two it's back to the same thing. So I thought that maybe something was wrong with the fuel tank and it ran best full. Nope, wrong answer still did it.

On my 2002 nissan altima it won't go in gear by pushing the clutch but if I cut the car off and put it in first gear and crank it it lurches forward what could be causing this and why won't my car go into...

When your engine is running at say 1200 rpm, the transmission is at zero speed with the clutch depressed. When you engage the clutch the first gear is still at zero speed trying to engage with a 1200 rpm crankshaft. In a normal transmission, they have a "synchronizer" which speeds up the gear to match the speed of the crankshaft so the gears mesh smoothly.
When you turn off your engine, the crankshaft is at zero rpm so it can go into gear with the zero rpm transmission. Bottom line...you have a problem with your synchronizer on your transmission. If you are lucky...a transmission shop could fix it without an overhall. But it needs to be diagnosed because it doesn't sound good.

Stalls when excellerating

i would do a few things here, simply spend $8 on some injector cleaner to break down carbon deposits, then try replacing the fuel filter, lastly, get the timing checked, plug gaps {new plugs} clean oxygen sensor in exhaust then lastly get the fuel pump pressure checked at a mechanics, all in that order untill it works, Good luck

Idle air control valves short out all the time on these models. You can ohm the motor to check it, but the down side to a shorted iac valve is that it shorts out the ecm if not repaired quickly. when the valve shorts, 12 volts is supplied directly to the ecm and burns the circuit board. The other option is the air flow meter, this is also a very common problem but typically a p0171/p0174 would be stored in self diag.
