Check connections, clean any corrosion. From your battery, the cable goes to the starter selenoid. The selenoid could be bad, the starter could be bad, the wiring could have a problem. You will find your solution withing these 3 components.

If the lights go dim, that means that your battery does not have enough power or you alternator is bad.

1990 HONDA ACCORD WON'T TURN OVER TO START BUT IT WILL ROLL START. I HAVE CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR AND TESTED THE IGNITION SWITCH STARTER RELAY SEEMS FINE CLUTCH SWITCH SEEMS FINE MAIN RELAY IS FINE

About the only thing you didn't mention was the starter itself. You could have it tested. But before that, try to see if you have power on the small wire to starter solenoid on the starter, when key is held in cranking position. Pull the small wire off and check for power with a multimeter or a testlight while someone holds the key in crank. This is the signal wire from ignition switch that closes the elec. contacts inside solenoid so the starter gets full power from the battery to spin. (This wire also is in the circuit with the clutch switch and the starter relay.) If you have power on this wire in crank, it is very likely the starter is bad. If there is no power, check that circuit out. It is losing power somewhere from switch to starter solenoid. Good luck.

Have a 1979 rolls royce that wont start no power to starter???

Verify that there is no power going to the starter solenoid with a multimeter. If no power is found, look at your neutral safety/inhibitor switch. This is a switch on the left side of the transmission that will interupt the starter signal to ensure that the gear selector is in fact in park.

When starting the engine the dashboard lights are flickering and there is a fast clicking noisefrom the starter motor. Could this be the solonoid as there was no problem starting it up yesterday and has...

that is a sign the the starter is not getting enough power to turn the starter over so the solenoid is struggling, have the battery check and possibly replaced or just a good charge may bring it back to life.

Help my 1995 Dodge ram 2500 will not start.

Hi cotboh7 If this truck rolled off the ramp I would check the neutral safety switch. You could also check that the shift linkage is set properly, also back to that starter, sometimes they give no indication at all, this happened to myself recently, parked the truck came out nothing, it was the starter in my case. But that has nothing to do with the truck rolling in park, and the neutral safety switch is for just that purpose, which is why it must be in park or sometimes neutral to start.I hope this helps, good luck to you.
