Your valve cover at one time ore anouther has probably been over tightend. you can chk by looking at the bolt hole to see if they are dimpled. if so turn upside down and with a small hammer restore the sealing surface to flat. this happens alot and is easy to fix

Good day, I've had my Fiat Siena for quite a while. It has been leaking oil for years. We have tried everything. Changing gaskets, oil seals and its costing me a fortune. At this stage it uses 3ltr oil a...

If the oil appears to be coming out between the block and cylinder head, the suspect problem is a head gasket that isn't sealing properly. If you changed this out already and it's still doing it, the block AND/OR head itself may need to be shaved to correct a slight warp or bow which is keeping the gasket from doing it's job right. A quality machine shop can correct the head/block, and a good mechanic will know how to check to see if the block and cylinder head planes are in tolerance.

If the oil appears to be escaping from between the head and valve cover, you can try removing the gasket there, cleaning the valve cover AND the head around the edges with a degreaser and again with some towelettes with alcohol (after its been degreased), then applying a thin coat of RTV sealant to each side of the gasket before installing it and equally tightening the screws down. These gaskets are a little more forgiving (thicker) than the head gasket because the casting of the valve covers are not as tight, but a bad seal is a bad seal. Just be sure that when using RTV to seal a gasket, both surfaces its going to come in contact with is absolutely free of oil deposits or dirt so it can grip and do it's job. Allow the gasket to cure/dry according the directions on the product and do not put it on and start the car up right away or it'll just spread oil again and the seal will generally fail quickly.

Bad oil leak in 2001 ot cruiser

A couple of leaks can be fairly large. An Oil Pan leak where you will see oil seeping down the sides of the pan and dripping directly below. The other is a Rear Main Bearing Seal leak and the oil will be coming from where the engine meets the transmission.

1988 jeep wrangler with oil leak on top of engine and can smell it inside while driving.is it a easy fix?

MOST OIL LEAKS COME FROM A BAD GASKET! IF YOU CAN LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK, YOU CAN FIX IT! IT COULD BE JUST A VALVE COVER GASKET LEAK! YOU CAN UNBOLT THE VALVE COVER, REMOVE IT, TAKE THE OLD GASKET OUT, CLEAN UP THE INSIDE, TO INSURE THERE IS NO OLD GASKET STUCK ON THE COVER! PUT THE NEW GASKET ON, AND REMOUNT THE VALVE COVER! RULE OF THUMB: WHEN TIGHTENING IT DOWN, START WITH THE MIDDLE BOLTS, SNUG THEM UP, THEN WORK YOUR WAY TO THE OUTSIDE! ONCE YOU HAVE SNUBBED THEM UP, GO BACK TO THE MIDDLE, AND TURN THE BOLT 1/8 TO 1/4 TURN EACH IN THE SAME WAY ( FROM THE MIDDLE- OUT!

I am getting the smell of oil in the interior of my 2002 Mazda Millenia. The front valve cover appears to be leaking oil.Is this a tough repair job?

It shouldn't be bad. Most valve covers are just a matter of taking it off, scraping off the old gasket material, apply a little gasket sealant gunk, put on a new gasket and tighten it back down.
