Question about 1995 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a stripped head bolt in my 1995 Honda Accord. My mechanic says that he has never seen this and the only way he can fix it is with a $400 kit. Is there an easier or cheaper way?

Hello, yes there is a way but it is not easy. I assume since you are taking a head off you have some good mechanical ability. Theres this kit called E Z out or an extractor kit. This is not an easy task however to do. The kit comes with instructions but I would highly recommend practing on a block of steel with a bolt that you cut the head off of and practice using the kit on this before tackling a head bolt and making it worse. An extractor kit is about the only way to take this out and like I said it is not easy but with confidence you can do it. I hope this helps you and if you have anymore questions just ask me.

How to take out a car stereo honda accord 1995.

You will first want to remove the dash surround around the head unit. There should be clips on the side that will allow for the unit to slide out. If not try removing any pieces of pastic near the head unit to locate tabs that will allow for removal. You will need to unplug it as soon as the unit is out.

1995 honda passport overheating. We changed the thermostat and radiator. How can I tell if it's the head gasket?

If the fan is running and the car is really running hot it is a problem with coolant circulation, either a thermostat that isn't opening fully (I have seen intermittent ones) or crud buildup in the radiator. I say really running hot because a defective instrument sender or wiring problem could cause an incorrect reading.I would suggest replacing the thermostat first (or removing it for a while as a test) to see how the temperature behaves, and if it behaves badly a good radiator flush. When u filled the car up with coolant did u open the bolt to purge the air in the system.I had a accord that was doing the same thing .the bolt to purge air on my accord was right beside the thermostat.just a suggestion with what info u have given. if so It might be the Head Gasket caused the car to overheat.
