1999 Ford Explorer keeps turning over but doesn't start. what is the problem?

There are 2 things to make it started: Spark and Fuel. Check out to see if there is a spark on the spark plug. If there is no spark, then check the coil pack back to the ignition module. Check out if there is fuel to make spark plug wet after several cranks. If there is not, then check the fuel pump. fuel filter, injectors module and injectors. Good luck.

My 1999 Ford explorer has periodic no start issues.

you need to check the wiring on the starter and the timing are the timing belt and the crank sensor give these websites a try and wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

What is the correct idle in a ford explorer 1999 v6 4.0 L when is hot?Thank you.

This is controlled by the ECM (Engine control module)I usually keeps it between 650-750 RPM's and will sometimes fluctuate when a load is turned on, but not a lot. Sometimes the tachometer in the dash reads wrong, so it maybe right at the tach is wrong. WHY DID YOU ASK THIS QUESTION, IS THERE ANOTHER CONCERN??

Car will turn off when the gas pedel is released

gee where to start....fuel filter, O2 sensor,map or maf sensor, egr valve, get a fuel pressure tester and check psi at fuel rail. (35 to 45 psi. key on - engine off).

When you first turn the key you should hear a buzzing sound coming from the fuel pump if not check your fuses if they all check ok then it is probably a fauty fuel pump
