Question about 1994 Volvo 940

1 Answer

My 1994 940 non-tubo's a/c stopped working. I don't see the A/C push button's background light anymore, and I also don't feel any load, or hear any new sound when I press the A/C button. I am wondering if this could be a fuse? Or could I, a non-mechanic, recharge the system with something from Autozone? thanks

Headlights will work on bright but not on dim. Tail lights will work regardless if one has it on bright or dim. Daytime driving lights work. The problems must be in the light switch on the left side of...

you could have a dimmer switch problem that may need an adjustment or you hear the switch click when you try to change from high to low,if not than these could be the problem.the switch is located on the top of the steering colume and the base of the colume under the dash.if you work the dimmer switch on the colume and put your hand on the colume under the dash you should be able to feel the rod that pushes on the switch.follow the rod down and it will go to the dimmer switch.there are 2 5/16 bolts that hold it in place that if you loosen them and push the switch up towards the steering wheel it will move it so the rod won`t have to move as far to change from low to high.if this is not the problem and you don`t hear a click then its usually a switch replacement.

There's no sound from stereo or when u turn the blinker on it doesn't make that clicking sound anymore. Everything stopped making sound.

Regarding the radio- you would have to check the wiring on the radio and see if any of them are damaged. Also need to check the speakers and see if they are damaged. You would most likely have to remove the door panel and physically and visually inspect the speakers.

If you gently push down on the speaker you should feel light resistence and it should be bouncy this is an example of a good speaker.

If you gently push down and feel like you pushed it all the way down and theres no resistance or bounce then the speaker needs to be replaced.

Regarding your blinkers- this is normally caused due to a light bulb that has burnt out and needs to be replaced. Inspect your lights and see which one doesnt work and replace the bulb with a new one.

The drivers side window auto up/down quit

1. Start the car and leave it idle.
2. Hold the window button down all the way, until the window is completely down.
3. Let go and push it down again and hold the window button for 2 to 3 seconds then let go. (You should be able to hear or feel (very faintly) the motor/sensor reset.)
4. Pull up on the window button and roll the window up until it is all the way up, when it is up let go.
5. Pull the button up again for 2 to 3 seconds. (You should be able to hear or feel (very faintly) the motor/sensor reset.)

it is very possible that a wheel speed sensor is open or reading erratic, causing the ECM to override the 4WD switch. Borrow/rent/buy a scanner that will tell you this info,

87 rx7 non tubo starts shuts down

My advice. Sounds like Electrical obviously. But many can lead to one or one problem to many. I would seriously not consider repairing it just get another motor put in. They are not expensive. locations everywhere and cheap and good.
