I have a Kia Optima 2002. I needed to replace the coolant temp. sensor. Where on a diagram, of the motor, v6, will I locate the sensor?

Depending on what car/ model you have, there may be 2 sensors on the engine. I don't honestly know about your particular vehicle.

However, you needn't rely on a wiring diagram to find it as they are very easily located.
Below is an image of a coolant sensor temperature. Yours will look pretty much like the one in the photo.
25929734-llkdp3pjxd1sy1nazmdezhqo-2-0.jpg To find it, open the bonnet/hood of your car and look at the cooling system. Somewhere, in the area of the thermostat (there'll probably be a wide-bore water hose in the vicinity) you'll find it. It screws into the metal of the thermostat/cylinder head area, and connects via that black connector to a connector on the wiring harness. It should be quite easy to see.

The job of the coolant temperature sensor is to work in conjunction with other sensors, to control the fuel/air mixture combined with engine temperature.

Often, on vehicles such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee (which I have) an error message may appear on your display to say 'coolant temperature sensor bad'. In the case of the Jeep Grand Cherokee this is a known 'bug' - there's nothing actually wrong with the sensor. The Jeep runs fine ..it's a 'false error message'. An occasional bug.

Is your Kia running fine..? If it's not overheating and doesn't have starting/idling/running problems...

Try and clean the throttle body. Carbon will gum up on the blade and the vaccume passages, which will cause a surge and stall.

Where is the temperature sensor for a ford e-150 van 1994 on a 300ci v-8 engine. Thanks rick

1994 Ford Truck E150 1/2 ton Van 5.8L MFI 8cyl Temperature Switch is located: Front seating area, center, under engine cover, front driver side of intake manifold, mounted in engine block.

The ECT sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor) is located either in the heater supply tube at the rear of the engine, or in the lower intake manifold. The ECT sensor is a thermistor (changes resistance as temperature changes). The sensor detects the temperature of engine coolant and provides a corresponding signal to the PCM. From this signal, the PCM will modify the air/fuel ratio (mixture), idle speed, spark advance, EGR and canister purge control. When the engine coolant is cold, the ECT sensor signal causes the PCM to provide enrichment to the air/fuel ratio for good cold drive-away; as engine coolant warms up, the voltage will drop.
