did they use a good quality oil? sometimes quality stuff makes the difference...the stuff for $.99 per litre does not protect as good as the stuff for $4.75 per could also be that you just never noticed the noise before you got your oil changed and now its just more noticeable..its also possible that they used a thinner grade oil..if you have been running 10w30 and they used 5w30, that may make a notice able sound....if they flushed the engine with that oil change as well, then you just freed up all the lifter and rockers and stuff that had all the sludge build up and they are now able to work freely without strain..

Its possible to have bearing in the lower end making a sound and the reason you weren't hearing it before was because the sludge was probably to thick and you might also have an oiling problem

You may have dirty fuel injectors - once the engine warms up and goes to closed-loop operation, the computer can compensate for clogged injectors to some extent. Another possibility is sticky valve lifters that work better once the oil gets hot - if this is the case you may hear a rhythmic tapping noise in the valve train at idle while the engine is cold.

Recently bought a jeep grand cherokee laredo 1994, it had been sitting for a year or so. When we got it started it is tapping a little, smoking alot, and gauge is showing zero oil pressure. I'm af

If it is a 4.0 strait six cylinder this is a common problem on them.Mine was located just below the oil filter and is pretty easy to fix.Plan it on your next oil change and it is even easier to change out.Oh just so you know your 4.0 liter engines do make a little bit of noise but are pretty much bulletproof if you just do regular maintence on them.Next time you start it put your ear down by the driver side hood hinge. You will find some tapping noise there it is part of the evap system. If it had no oil pressure you would know it rite away.

there is also a small valve body you are supposed to replace when replaceing the phasers... also there is a ssm for replacing the valve lash adjusters. alot of time the small engine tick you hear can be a cracked exhaust manifold too so checking those really close is heavily advised because the cracks are really hard to see sometimes. i have seen broken push rods on these engines and they can be a pain to pinpoint where the noise is comming from. hope this helps

Im getting low oil pressure reading on my 95 cadillac deville.. what should I be looking to replace?

always start at the least expensive item. ths would be the oil filter. if its a double wall one, switch to a single. if this doesnt work, then test the oil sending unit. alot of the older caddys do this, and as long as you dont hear lifters tapping,i wouldnt sweat it.

Motor is tapping after it warms up it also has gas in oil

The tapping you hear is your engine beginning to self destruct. Do not drive this vehicle until you change the oil. Then find out how the fuel is getting into the oil. On some old American cars this could happen when the fuel pump diaphragm failed. The fuel is getting into the oil pan and it has to be stopped. It will at least destroy the engine. I was riding in a car years ago that had this problem. The oil pan literally blew up. Take no chances with this one. If you must drive it to get it fixed change the oil first or have it towed.

96 Eclipse 2.0 non-turbo Engine has a tapping sound that sounds like its coming from the top of the engine. The sound is loud enough to make it difficult to tell where its coming from. I took the valve...

Most likely cause is a hydralic tappet. Mits are well know for top end noise. Note we are talking about a tapping or clicking sound not a knock. You can try using an engine flush product if the noise is getting bad and then changing your oil. Generally if the oil is not changed regularily eventually the tapping noise gets happens.

IN lite of my coolant leak, a bad pump will somtimes have a tapping noise. At time s at crank up there is a tapping noise but it sounds like its from a rod tapping from lack of oil. Could this be related...

First, change the pump. If it's bad just to protect the engine it has to be done! Second, The noise you hear has to be isolated. A sticking lifter can cause a tapping noise and is more common than rod or other bearing failures. BUT, if you have "cooked" the engine oil from repeated overheats or higher than normal engine temps all bets are off. If you have an oil pressure gauge, what is the oil pressure? Should not be below 15PSpsi running, in or out of gear.(in reality, should be much higher than that!) If too low, then you have a problem. If normal, change oil & filter.
