sounds like its in "default" mode...perhaps there was a momentary glitch in the system and it went to default to let you know to get it checked out. if not, then perhaps you have a heater control problem...the best thing i can recommend here is that you take it your mechanic and have then scan the heater control unit for codes....record and clear codes if present...if still not working then perhaps you have a faulty blend door actuator or mode door actuator, or faulty control head..

I've ran across this kind of problem on a lot of the newer dodge trucks. Most common cause for this issue is one of the blend doors are either sticking or broken, in which this case the complete dash has to be moved to fix.

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door under the dash.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the desired vents.

Heat

Could be a problem with a blend door under the dash.
The blend doors are controlled by vac or electric motors and direct air thru the heater core and the vents.
Defrost is the default position when the HVAC system is not working.

You have a vacuum leak..The lines that usually break are on the passenger side under the hood they go toward the firewall..Check that first..If nothing found youll have to back track under the dash

Sounds like hose got dislodged. Check under dash & fix. (If you can even get a hand in that area)

1999 ford f350 super duty vents only blow on defrost.

I am going to assume this truck is a diesel. If it is there is a small vacumm motor on the passenger fender well and a vac tank next to it. Chances are the vac motor has gone out. Most of the time there is a reason this motoe fail. It usually means there is a vacumm leak somewhere in your system forcing the vac pump motor to run to much burning it out!
