I have a 95 accord LX. I've had some overheating problems and neither engine fan comes on. I tested the A/C fan by unplugging it and testing the power to the harness. It had power to the connection. Would...

The AC cooling fan (in some cars) is tied to the operation of the AC only. Others are used as auxiliaries even when the AC isn't in use. Your normal fan is likely controlled by a thermal switch located in the bottom tank of the radiator and these are not uncommon failures, not terribly expensive or difficult to replace. It may be sloppy, but it is safe to leave the battery connected but the key removed when doing this; there won't be power to the connector if the engine is cool.
Check the lower radiator tank for a largish hex-headed sensor with one or two wires coming from it. It (or they) will be plugged into a mating connector. With a container to trap lost coolant (it can poison animals) and a tight cooling system, these switches can be removed and quickly replaced with little coolant escaping. Use Teflon tape on the threads of the new switch and do not over-tighten the switch when installing.

The engine cooling fan will not stop. Battery was dead yesterday, needed new one, put it in, then fan started and would not stop (for hours)had to disconcect the battery. What is wrong?

  1. locate the engine cooling fan relay/disconnect/does fan stop
  2. if so reconnect relay
  3. locate fan switch in radiator or intake manifold
  4. disconnect switch/does fan stop?
  5. if so replace switch
  6. if not replace relay
  7. this solution does not check for electrical wiring problems
  8. such as opens or shorts to ground

The fan on the engine does not turn on for cooling during or after car stops what could be the problem?

It could be the fan switch on the engine, the fan motor itself, the fan relay or the fuse for the fan.

I HAVE A 1995 ACCORD IT OVER HEATES MAINLY WHEN I AM GOING UP A HILL. I FLUSHED OUT THE RADIATOR CHANGED THE TERMOSTAT WHAT ELSE COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

Did you also flush the engine block? When the water jackets inside the block dry out, the scale and muck attached the the jacket walls detaches and is carriend by the water into the top radiator tank. Here it sits on top of the tubes blocking off some of them. The engine will get hot now, but it won't boil. I'd advise you to add cooling system cleaner to the radiator and drive for about 30mins. Then, reverse flush radiator again and reverse flush the engine block too. (the thermostat has to be removed to do this)

Engine fan runs after car shut down

The most likely cause of this problem is a part called a "Fan switch".

This link should be the location where yours is located. When it is working properly, it turns on the fans when the coolant reaches a certain tempeture.. In your case im assuming the switch is defective.. and stuck open.

Check the cooling fan switch and the temperature control switch, they should be turning your fan on when the engine temp begins to rise (as when u stop and gauge starts to climb).
