Getting a code P0304 on my 1999 Dodge 1500 5.2L.I changed my spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor about 3-4 mos. ago and have had my check engine lite come on three different times and stay on for 3-4 days at a time and then clear in the last 2-3 mos. I purchased a code reader and its giving me a code P0304- cylinder 4 misfire detected

The code that is given means that the coil, plug ,plug wires, for that cylinder could be bad, check spark plug and see if this is the problem or a bad wire.

you can check for spark by plugging in one of your old sparkplugs to one of the spark plug cables and letting the sparkplug lay on the bare metal of the engine. Turn over engine to see if the spark plug is producing a spark. No spark? Check under the distributor cap, take a look at the rotor for damage.

Bad crankshaft sensor on a 1994 GMC k1500 5.7L TBI Auto?

if your o2 sensor is reading too lean then you have a vacume leak spray brake cleaner on all your vacume hoses one at a time if nothing then spray it around your intake manifold gasket they are usually the culprit

Check Engine P0303 Code. Stays solid then blinks.

ok a P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected is a hard code meaning your problem is not intermetent,if you all ready changed the spark plugs and wires, the next step is to check the injector for the #3 cylinder, also if you can try using another ignition coil, check the crank position sensor and last try moving the plugs aroud to see if the code changes or if you get a new one,i dont think you will be stranded but the engine performance is crapy.

Im not getting spark to my spark plugs

Remove the distributor cap, so that the rotor is visible. Have an assistant turn the ignition to crank the engine over. If the rotor does not turn when the engine is cranking, then you need a timing belt or chain.

If the rotor does turn, then replace the coil.

Want to check pickup assem in dist.

Fouled spark plug? Bad wire? Rotor / cap new? Check those things out, wear a thick rubber glove, take the wire off the non working plug, put a screwdriver next to the wire (while car is running) and see if a spark is made. If it is, your plug is bad. If no spark, replace wires. Still no spark? Change your rotor and cap. Still no spark? Ignition module. Following those steps will save you some green.

The check engine light is on and the diagnostic code is 43, on my dodge dakota 1997, 3.9L. Engine is weak and misfire. Check spark plugs (OK)and everything else there is. Am I missing something? What?...

Plugs need to be changed every 30K, and wires, cap, rotor every 60K. Could be a weak coil not putting out enough spark, could be the pickup in the distributor, could be timing is off from stretched timing chain, could be weak compression. Check the basics first.

99 5.2 durango :pulled codes for multipe missfire cylinder #5-7

Aloha We have just replaced all of what you have replaced, plus water pump, fuel pump, pcv valve and 02 sensor. Took it to mechanic today we had misfire on 1,2,6,7. Mechanic said that the 99 dodge is known for bad computers, he checked ours and works great turns out that it was the coil. Ours was jumping 1/4 inch and had a orange/yellow spark. it is supposed to have a 1 inch spark and be blue. This has solved our problems after 527 dollars later.
Check the coil!
