Clearing codes from the computer would have to be done either by this or a scan tool or code reader that is capable of dong so.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do i reset computer in 2007 Ford Expedition

Resetting the computer for driveability is done by unhooking the battery cable for ten minutes or so. The owners manual usually covers this.
Just hook the cable back up and start the car,let it idle 5 minutes, then drive normally. don-ohio

Can i reset the computor on a 89 ford escort by unpluging it?

There really is not (resetting) the computer, but you can erase the engine codes by unhooking the positive batter cable from the battery and touching it to the negative cable, make sure it is positive to negative not negative to positive as this would be bad.

Depends what kind of repair was done, and if it was done right!
The computer wont reset by itself ALL the time!
If the CEL is still on, I would say unhook the battery for about 2 minutes(Negative cable, that will reset your computer). Then if the CEL comes back on either the repair was'nt performed properly, or something else is wrong!

Unhooking Battery Cables

unhooking the battery won't clear the code it's still stored in the hard set memory go to shcucks and have them scan the computer ask them to see if the codes are cleared if not you can clear them they can't it is an OBDII car once you have cleared the problem drive it and see if it comes back, be sure to get the codes printed out before clearing the codes the mechanic will need them if it comes back, there are hard codes and soft codes soft codes can be reset by unhooking the battery but not hard codes. Don't bother with unhooking the battery.
