this could be a tune up issue...take out a spark plug and inspect it...the elcetrode should be square not rounded...the gap should be reasonable to the human eye. if excessive or way too small, this could cause a popping sound as the fuel is not being all burned..if the porcelain (the white part where the spark plug wire attaches too) has little black lines running up the side of it, this is called carbon tracking and need replacing...if the plug is soaked in gas then perhaps the wrong heat range spark plug is installed...if saturated in engine oil then perhaps this is also causing your popping sound....but i very strongly recommend a tune up...spark plug replacement with the FACTORY spark plug to ensure the right heat range, spark plug wires, after market are ok, fuel filter, air filter and pcv valve. just to make sure everything is breathing okay....

Fuel is not continuously supplied in the line to prolong hte combustion cycle. There are 2 possible causes:
1- Fuel filter is clogging up preventing fuel supply to the fuel distributor. 2- Fuel pump is weak not delivering fuel at certain rate for the needed supply.

My car starts and runs at first but sometimes at a stop sigh it will keep sputtering and duing and wont stay running,

If you feel it starting to die - toss it into neutral before coming to a full stop.

If it then keeps running, your TCC solenoid is locking up (common problem on all TH125C trannies). As a quick fix, pop the hood and disconnect the square green 4 pin connector going into the tranny. No more lockup over 50km/h, but no more stalling.

YOUR VEHICLE IS OUT OF TIME. GET THE TIMMING DONE. YOU MAY HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIMMING CHAIN. BUT FIRST WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING TRY ROTATING THE DISTRIBUTER A LITTLE AT A TIME AND SEE IF IT STARTS TO RUN SMOOTH AND STOP POPPING

Turns over but will not start--was running fine

Sounds like your timing belt popped. Hope you didn't mess up the motor when it went. May have bent some valves. Has it been awhile since it was replaced? Check it first.
