There is no such engine in a s-10...its either a four cylinder or a 4.3 six cylinder...

    Changing head gaskets

If you are referring to the intake manifold, be very certain that you have removed all of the bolts from the upper and the lower intake manifolds. Here are some diagrams that might be useful to you.

If you are certain that all of the bolts are removed from the manifolds, then you can break the seal holding the intake manifold by using a large screwdriver, wedge it between the intake manifold and the cylinder head and you should then be able to pry up the intake manifold and get it to break loose.

You did not specify what engine you had so these diagrams are for a 1998 3.8 litre V-6 engine. I hope that they will be of any use to you.8d58a40.gif97f8120.gifc0dadb4.gif332b28c.gif0f0a8e9.gif

Have a 2004 Chevy Silverado need some help. Where is the knock sensor located?

There are two knock sensors on your engine, and they are underneath the intake manifold. You will have to remove the intake to get to the sensors.

Is the middle cylinder on the passenger side the #3 cylinder? If not what one is the #3 cylinder on a chrysler 300m 3.5

Tis is a 6 cyl, correct?Ok, first, ckeck the intake manifold where it bolts to the head. The cylinder no. should be casted on the intake above each cylinder. One side should be 1-3-5 and the other 2-4-6. The firing order is also casted on the intake manifold whic is 153624. Good Luck. -Ned_

Hi, could someone help me with the firing order of a 1990 Chevy Lumina power pack, please. Thanks

You didn't say what size engine you have, 4cyl. or 6 cyl.
    The 4 cyl. is--- 1-3-4-2
The 6 cyl 3.1 is---- 1-2-3-4-5-6----- on the coil pack under the exhaust manifold is----- 1-4-6-3-2-5. If neither of these doesn't work, then you have a different engine.

    ECTS location

My manuals don't show an exact location (GM played around alot on the 4.3ltr's intake manifold those years) but they are almost always near the front of the intake manifold on top. The ECTS is usually black plastic with a brass or aluminum base that threads into the intake manifold. There is one connector.

To check the sensor, check the resistance:
    @ Cold (5,700 to 2,200 ohms)
    @ Operating temp (170 to 450 ohms)

If you can't get the ohm meter's probes in the sensor (due to cramped working space), you can remove it and try it in a pan of water. (cold engine: 50 t0 80 degrees F, warm engine:170 to 200 degrees F). Good luck!
