There is a connector..Do you mean just cut connector out and wrap wire together?

Replace the terminal end ,with a new one that fits tight. You can purchase a new terminal end at the parts store, and cut the old one off,and re crimp the new one on,it is the best solution to fix the problem, and be done with it.

If you know which wire needs to be wiggled, you are 90% there. If the offending wire is part of a big connector, you can always use wire to bypass the connector and make it a dependable connection

Your starter solenoid armature is sticking. It is mounted atop the starter and the heat from the exhaust manifold sometimes causes this problem on older systems. You can try a temporary fix by placing some type of heat shield over the solenoid using something that is fire proof but replacing the solenoid will eventually be necessary.

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has a new battery but won't start. When I try to jump start it, it just makes a clicking sound but won't start.

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere. Trace the battery cables and clean/tighten all terminals or try jumping to a different lug. You might also try removing the starter and jumping directly to the starter to verify that it is good.

2002 jeep cherokee laredo won't start new battery

The Jeep DTC P1491 code is actually radiator fan control relay circuit.
Soft reset if the battery disconnect would have erased the code; the first thing I would replace for that code (fan relay).
Additionally, its possible thta your THEFT system is activated, check owners manual to disarm.
Hope this helps.

My 2001 grand cherokee is sluggish to start almost likes ites a dead battery? once its starts its fine. It doesnt matter if its cold or hot it always starts likes this.

If you are sure the battery is solid, remove the battery clamps (always negative first), clean both terminals and while they are off, follow the positive (red) cable to the solenoid or starter, remove and clean that and finally, trace the other end of the negative cable which will lead to either the block or a chassis point and clean that too.
When putting cables back in place, leave the negative battery clamp until last.
If the problem persists, either the solenoid (if separate) needs replacement or, if integrated with the starter, it may need replacement.
Starters draw a huge amount of current from 100-200 amperes and any poor contact will cause the reluctant starting you have.

When new battery is connected starter whirs without key in ignition -- 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

Sounds like the starter solenoid is stuck on, most likely need to replace the starter, sometimes what can be done is tap the solenoid with a wrench or a small hammer and it may come loose, if it stops i would still recommend replacing the starter because it will happen again 9/10 times. Also check the wiring to the starter and make sure the start wire is not shorted or installed improperly. If there is constant voltage at the smaller start signal wire, the problem is somewhere in the wiring or the keyswitch.
