Question about 1982 Ford F 350

1 Answer

Ford 460 with a Holly 750 bogs out at 40 mph then stalls when i stop and wont start again for several minutes. There's no diagnostic plug. This is in an f350 2wd dually. This started on the expressway. There's a place where a manual choke used to be, but it's stuck open anyway. Could it be a sensor?

It hasn't back fired in the past, but when it reaches 40 mph or so and sputters out, it kind of back fires, but not real loud, just a series of small pops like a sputter. Could it still be that?

Has it back fired any time in the past? if so you might have a blown power valve. this is very common with hollys

The holly tree branches and leaves are turning brown and dying what can be done to stop the tree from dying?

  • Hi Elaine:
  • I've found that holly likes shade and does not like drought. Try giving it a really deep watering once a week.
  • How big and established is the tree?
  • Did the problem just start, and what changed for the tree's environment?

I was driving and about 40 mph the car decided it didnt want to go over 20.untill then it ran and started fine. Now it hard to get started wont rev up pver 2 rpm. had a timing belt put pn what cause

Hi Holly. Is this only since the belt was done?? If so check for wires that might have been disconnected or incorrectly fitted. Especially the MAF sensor. If that's all ok re check the timeing marks.

Will a carb from a 351m fit a 351w?

I don't see why it wouldn't. If there both 2 barrel or 4barrel it shouldn't matter. How ever you do have to pay attention to how much fuel the carb delivers. Like 750 holly or a 650 holly. Some 351modifieds used a Ford carb and I can't remember how much fuel they deliver. You get to much fuel to your engine and it will put out black suet from the tail pipe. This can cause damage to the piston rings over time. The tail pipe should look white or tan in side if the fuel mixture is right.
I hope this helps, I have been a ford owner and mechanic for years.

86 ford 460 cu. in. Ford w/ Holly four barrle carborator secondary

On most models, the secondary barrels would only work if the primary are in wide open position, and even then the range of opening is small.
The engine should run past 3000 RPM on just the front barrels, so you may have something else going on.

Have a Holly 350 2bb on 302 FORD CLEVELAND V/8 IT

302 is a small block. Cleveland was a line of big blocks Ford made.
But it sounds like you just have a weak power valve.

750 holly carb put a holly fuel pump floods won't run idle adjusted the float all the way down still floods it on a 5.0 motor

make sure that your fuel pump is rated for the same pressure as your carb. if you bought it as a package deal than it probably is but unlike fuel injected vehicles that have a pressure regulator the fuel is constant flow in a carb.

Got a 85 ford f150 has a 302 holly carb. was running fine ran low on gas and now cuts out wont back out of drive way idles fine but hit the gas and it stalls

strip and clean out the carb,or quick fix ,rev engine with air filter off and then hold hand over intake this may or may not not cure it .because when hand is held over carb and stops air the suction will draw any muck through the jets
