A wire, running from the hot battery post to what

1995 Dodge Intrpid 330L: A wire, running from the hot battery post to what looks like a fuse box under the hood, is completely broken. It is part of the battery wire harness, so can't easily be replaced. Car won't run without it. Can I hard wire plice it?

Just cut out and replace with another wire or if melted or broken off connection then yes hard wire it just add a fuse at the battery right after the connection good luck.

You can but make sure you use the same gauge of wire or larger.

I shorted out my tail light while wiring a trailer hook up and now my 1997 dodge Ram Van will not start

Find the tail light fuses.
They should be under the hood near the battery by the firewall. If not there look under the dash to the left of the driver.
If it's not a fuse, then it's probably a broken hot or ground wire in the wiring to the trailer.
Hope this helps.

Jo Jean, which diagram are you looking for the wiring or the vacuum and what size engine do you have? You can find the engine size on the sticker under the hood. it will be like a 2.5 or 3.5 something like that. Also check out my auto-repair-website at:

Check the main wire from the battery to the interior fuse panel. There is a fusible link in the blue wire. Check for power on the other side of that link. Also check your ground wire from the engine to chassis or from the battery to the chassis.

i just looked up all this circuits to see if they have any thing in common, and the only thing they have in common is the battery, but you may have blown a few fuses, the power steering has an electric assist there is a in line fuse (ESP fuse 80amp ) under the hood next to the battery also there is a rear defrost fuse in the under hood fuse box but i think i would check all the wires going to the battery positive post i think one of the smaller wires may have broken off the positive battery cable end this were the under hood fuse box get power from and all this circuits start at this box, so that is were you should start your search.

let me know if there is any thing else i can do for you.

I am putting in a trailer brake controler. I found the wires to hook the plug to, but where do they come out at the front of the truck? Are they under the dash?

Look at the harness on the back side of the fuse box under the hood. Pull the fuse cover and the fuse box housing. You will probably have to remove the fender brace. They usually run the wires to connect to in the harness and bend them back into the wrap. Should be orange and blue. You will have to splice into them under the hood and run wires into the cab along with a GOOD ground and the drake switch and a hot fused wire. Look at the owners manual and see if fuse post 1 and fuse post 2 are connected. If not, one will feed to the brake controller and the other to 12 volt power to the trailer... Blue brake and orange to trailer power.
Also look at http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. Full of useful info.

Is there green corosion on the tip of the wire ? Chances are the answer is yes. You will have to detach the fuse panel/box and run a new wire and connector to the fuse panel. Splice into the wire you can see, but make sur you cut enough of the wire off to get rid of the corrosion.Hope this helps.
