What year manual transmission fits to a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX?

Pretty much any "EJ" transmission will fit any "EJ" engine, the only problems are whether the clutch is a pull or push type release bearing? That will also make a difference how the clutch slave cylinder mounts up. If it isn't a turbo model trans, it will not take the HP that the engine puts out for very long. The Impreza STI manual trans will bolt up, but there will be some exhaust fitment issues where the down pipe bracket connects to the trans.

I have a 98 Subaru impreza 2.2 awd drive and i just replaced the clutch . Now, when i let off the gas the car makes a quite clicking sound from the front . any idea on what could cause this

Hello, the only thing I can recommend is to double check all of the trans mount nuts and bolts and the trans subframe bolts for looseness. This is usually the most common cause for that type of concern.

1998 subaru impreza how to replace the clutch and how long does it take

Hi:
This is tough to answer in short format, but basically, your axles and transmission need to be removed, and the pressure plate and clutch removed, and your flywheel needs inspected and resurfaced if needed.
An experienced mechanic, with tools and parts on hand can get a clutch swapped in a day. I am a shade tree mechanic and it takes me a couple of days, because I have to always run back to the parts store and get something!

The typical person cannot afford to pay for this service, just automotive dealerships, etc... that is why the public library made it available to everyone and for free to view and print out material. Sounds like a worn selector shaft in the gearbox. If it is it will need stripping and replacing. Better just to get another seconhand box. It could also be the clutch spline cover fingers worn so the clutch will not engage properly. Both will need the box out to find out.

Sure sounds like a throw out bearing having too much room. Might need adjustment.
