there should be a rubber hand pump by the fuel filter under the bonnet, disconnect the fuel pipe from the filter to injector pump just clips off ,squeeze the pump until the filter is full refit fuel pipe and pump some more until you feel the resistance in the pump build she should now start, if you cant disconnect the fuel pipe just pump until you feel resistance but might take longer, if there is no hand pump fill the filter with diesel and try starting her if she then starts keep it reving a while to make sure all air is out of system
on a ford mondeo 08 the fuel filter is at the rear of car u take old filter put in new one fill with fuel put back together then put a pipe on feed [there might be a bleed niple on top that will be easier] suck till fuel comes out conect pipe back turn ignition on for 15 seconds 3 times to clear air then start done
if you dont hear the pump and you once did, probably pump bad,try starting fluid in air box-tube to mass air,if cranks and shuts of car isnt getting fuel, you can pull line to motor loose to see if gas is getting to motor, check filter for blockage, still no gas more than likely pump bad.
Could be a a fuel pump fuse, blocked fuel intake filter, blocked in-line filter or failed pump.
1) When the fuel goes very low the dregs and dirt in the bottom of the tan are likely to sucked into the fuel pipe. The end of the fuel pickup pipe within the tank has a filter sock on the end of it to prevent very large particles from entering the fuel line. However this can become overwhelmed with dirt that it may be become clogged. It may mean that the tank needs to be removed to clean/replace this sock.
2) Fuel pumps are cooled by the passage of fuel through them. If the car runs dry but one tries to repeatedly to start the car the fuel pumps can over heat and die.
3) the in-line fuel filter has become blocked.
Check your fuses
check the in-line fuel filter. The filter is located next to the fuel pump and consists of a metal canister with no electrical connections; I make a point of this since the pump and filter look similar.
Next look at the pumps. Simply put the switch to position 2 in the ignition and listen to and feel the pumps for tell-tale whirring to show that they are OK. No whirring indicates failure.
Lastly, check the fuel filter sock in the tank
My guess is that you will not need to check the sock in the tank as you will trap the failure elsewhere first.
fuel problem but ?? what?? now that is the question either you have run out of fuel or you have bio fuel and it clogged the filter up with hard clear crystaline .to a cracked feed pipe dragging in air .i would need to know what year and weither it has a injector pump or its common rail to advise further
You may have to bleed the fuel system. There may be a very small air leak in the fuel supply line and after a long time idle, the fuel seeps bac into the tank, leaving an air lock in the pipe. When you go to start, this air makes its way into your injection pump & needs to be bled out before the engine will start. Begin from your fuel filter bleed valve, next the injection pump using the primer pump to transfer the fuel. Next loosen off the injector pipes and crank the engine over until fuel sprays form all the joints. Tighten injector pipes and start. It may run a bit rough for to begin with, but will soon even out. If it doesn't start, repeat bleeding of injectors.
take out the fuel filter fill it with diesel then replace it,now unscrew the pipes on the injectors just a little ,then starts the engine for a while, until u see the fuel coming out from the pipes,if so then screw the pipes ,then starts the engine,it will be ok
