O2 is the symbol for oxigen so it could well be the airflow sensor this is usually in the air duct between the air filter and the intake manifold should usually not be difficult to replace.

You'll need to give us the specific code, in the format P0xxx. Just saying "O2 sensor" doesn't mean anything. It could be the heater circuit, fuse, o2 sensor itself, etc. Changing an O2 sensor isn't too hard but you may not need to replace it/them.

Please report back with the code or look it up at http://www.check-engine-light.com

Symptons o2 sensors

If your O2 sensors are malfunctioning, the main symptom would be that the Check Engine light will come on. On some vehicles, an O2 sensor circuit shorted to ground can cause a no-start problem.
If the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light is on and there is a code for the O2 sensors, I would like to also advise you that many O2 sensor codes are not caused by the O2 sensors themselves. In many cases, the O2 sensors are only REPORTING the problem. for example, a code P0171 "Oxygen Sensor Lean" code is rarely ever caused by the O2 sensor. It is usually caused by a vacuum leak or a failed Mass Airflow sensor (MAF) or Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP) or a bad fuel injector. In these cases, repairing the real reason that the engine is running lean will fix the O2 Sensor code without replacing the O2 sensor.

My Service Engine Soon light came on about a year ago. I took it into the shop and got that problem fixed but the light stayed on, so I took it to advance auto parts and code tested it and it said that...

There are several types of O2 Sensor codes. There can be "Lean O2 Sensor" codes, "Rich O2 Sensor" codes, "O2 Sensor Slow Response" codes, or "O2sensor Heater Circuit" codes. The specific code that is being set changes the way you must go about diagnosing and repairing the problem. I will say however, that in about 80% of all the O2 Sensor code problems that I have had to diagnose, the O2 Sensor itself was NOT the problem. The O2 Sensor was only reporting a problem that was actually caused elsewhere. O2 Sensors are the final checkpoint in the engine management system. I think of them like a report card. If the O2 Sensors are right, the rest of the engine management system is right. If the O2 Sensors are not right, the rest of the engine management system is probably not right. (Except in the 20% of the cases where the problem is actually being caused by a failed O2 Sensor)

Have 1996 chevy Silverado 4.3 Service Engine Soon Light Stays on took to Autozone & the reader said replace O2 Sensor

A P0147 is caused by a failure in the O2 sensor heater circuit. The heater circuit is used to allow a more accurate reading (for O2 sensor) while system is below normal operating temperature. The only way to properly fix this problem is to replace the O2 sensor, however you can clear the code and it may be a few days before it comes back [and sets check engine light]. This condition is somewhat common on GM vehicles of that age.

1998 WINDSTAR CSERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ON

it's not likely a bad o2 sensor would cause it to run rough, but the catylitic converter, which is what the o2 sensor reads the flow of, would cause the car to idle and run rough. If you take it to an auto parts store to have a diagnostic test ran on it( most major parts stores will do this for free), thecodes it gets would help pin point it alot better.

Service engine soon Light On code says o2 sensor but replacing didn't fix it

There are two O2 sensors...one before the catalytic converter and one after. The one before is the one the ECM uses to control engine controls and the one after is there to verify the converter is working. if the converter stops working properly that can set off the O2 sensor error. It is possible that the catalytic converter could be the problem and not the O2 sensor. Or the O2 sensor that you replaced might not be the defective one. Also the check engine light might not go off right away after replacing the sensor. It may take some time of driving. The ECM needs to get a good reading from the sensor for sometime before the code will dissapear. So it is possible that you might have repaired the problem and the code has not cleared yet. You could clear the code by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and then see if it comes back.

My 1993 Chevy Blazer wont start, it turns but it wont turn over and when it stopped it had a rotten egg smell

rotten egg smell is most of the time an O2 sensor.Goto your diagnostic connector and bridge the A and B posts with a paper clip. Turn on your truck to the"run" position.Your service engine soon light will start to blink, first once, pause, then twice. That's a code 12-means your computer is in diagnostic mode and will now give you all trouble codes.Three blinks is three and so forth.Codes are always repeated 3 times and are double digits (12,13,14,ect.).If the service engine soon light stays on and doesn't blink your computer is the problem and will need to be taken to a shop for further diagnosis.
