Most known brands are good as long as they make one which will physically fit into your battery compartment.
Bosch, Varta, Lucas are well known brands in Europe

check the voltage of your battery eg 12V and the Ah rating (amp hours) if you go for a larger Ah than the one your have your battery will have more power but may be physically bigger and may not fit into your battery compartment.
the rating of the battery should be marked on its label either on the top or side of the battery. so is best to go with the same rating as you have or is recommended by your dealership it doesnt mean you have to buy it from them.

I hooked up the jumper cables wrong to a Mini Cooper 2005 and it wont start. What should I do?

load test the battery. Test the alternator with a multimeter, it should read between 13.3 and 14.6 volts dc. Test the alternator at idle and rev the engine to 2000 rpm. The multimeter probes are place on the battery terminals. Look for corrosion between the battery and the battery clamps. Baking soda cleans the corrosion.

I have a 2005 gmc Denali and my blower resistor burned up. I went and bought a brand new one and a brand new pig tail because apparently the aftermarket one is diff. Any ways I pit it back I'n and it...

Hi, often the switch will fail first and then cause the resistor to fail. The way this happens is the switch may engage multiple speeds and thus cause excessive current through the resistors. You can check the switch at the resistor pigtail using an voltmeter or 12 volt test light. Each terminal in the connector should have power with one and only one setting of the switch. If more than one terminal has power for any switch setting, replace the switch. Please let me know if you need instructions or have any more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Windshield wipers working intermittently. Sometimes takes 5 minutes before they begin to work. Other times stop in mid wipe.

This is the wiper motor failing...But to be safe unplug wiper motor, turn on wiper switch, connect test light to negative side of battery or good solid metal ground and stick probe in connector.if it is not working and the test light is not on then the wiper switch has failed.....and if the test light comes on at connector the wiper motor has failed..Since it works intermittently have an assistant to work the wiper switch and test a number of times to be sure. You can buy a cheap test light that will be good enough to check this at any auto parts store...BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR TEST MAKE SURE TEST LIGHT

Engine sputters while engine check light flashes then truck cuts off and is hard to start again. took it to sears ran battery test that included starter, altenator, and battery... everything was good....

believe Nissan about tune ups a the ECM does it every second
when the tune up fails you run the fault codes and replace the faulty part or fix what has broken
plugs will last the life of the motor especially if you pay the extra for platinum plugs
you can help by regularly using quality injector cleaner and having the codes read every so often
batteries are checked with a load tester
Alternators are bench tested and starter motors have to be removed and bench tested
the codes were oit read properly as the engine light operation is a fault recorded and the engine failing to start are other fault codes

My car was not starting due to battery problems. each time this would happen, I would put water into my battery because the water level was always low.. and i would get a jump start. this has been...

The boiling essentially puts your battery over the line.

There may be a possibility that you are overcharging it, check for between 13.8 and 14.6 with engine running at about 1500 to 2000. Some systems fail and go full voltage...

Anyways, if that is close, it may be the battery. But one ALWAYS needs a good battery, your life can depend on it.

I prefer interstate brand. I like the factory methodology, and their stuff works. Costco is another consideration, hard to beat that price. I dislike Sears die easy and unknown brands.

So, get the new battery CHARGED and in, and test again.

Fact is that once battery fluid has gone lower than the tops of the plates, the battery is very near the end. The OTHER issue is the HUGE deterioration from all of that bubbling ACID. It wrecks everything.... Completely clean everything and recoat surfaces if needed. YOu need good, perfectly clean cables.

consider those little felt washers that have anticorrosive to put under your cable connections to the battery.

I am not aware of any for this make and model.
I noticed it's a 2005. If it has the original battery it has a 5 year
old battery. Most batteries last for 3 years on average.

How long can you let a new corvette sit before the battery runs down

With a good quality new battery it should be fine for one year or so, type of battery is important also, conventional car batteries tend to lose around 5% of their power each month or so.
