Car dies. Initially car would

Car dies. Initially car would "hiccup" the dashboard lights would go off and the clock would reset. but it would not die completely. Now, it will stall out and won't restart. Shop has been unable to diagnose because it won't die out on them.

First thing i would check is battery posts and cable connections. Also check the cables for damage. If they are shorting out somewhere it would cause this, and the fact that your clock is suffering from an interrupted power supply really points to that.

It starts, but why are all the service lights on the dashboard lit up?

Usually it indicates the alternator is not charging. Get yourself a volt meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Read the voltage before and after you tart the car. The voltage should go up from 12v to 13/14v. Keep an eye on it. If it slowly goes down, then the alternator needs to be checked.

Try disconnecting the negative bbattery cable for 5 minutes to reset the system control module, if that doesn't do it you will need the dealer to look at this.

a new battery will keep the volts up for a while. the light warns that there is a problem, usually its the alternator, one way to check is to loosen the positive battery cable, a little, start the car and disconnect the positive cable if the car dies the alternator is bad if it still runs its probably ok

Dead Car

have the alternator checked for proper output.
Autozone will do it for free if you take the alternator off and take it to the store.
you were running the car on the battery until it drained all the power out of it.

Have you had the battery checked..Cold weather is the worst enemy on a battery. They work fine in summer but cold will get em.
