Question about 1989 Ford Bronco

How do you remove the rear window motor in the tailgate of my 89 ford bronco. I took off the inside panel to be able to see the inside but from there don't see the motor and how to get further into the inside.

There is about 3 rivets that you have to cut off, that holds the window motor and regulator to the tailgate, then shift the window back and forth to get the track slides to slide out then pull the window out slowly,it will catch when its almost out so be careful.

The tailgate on my 93 bronco wont open

If you have never changed the motor then it is the motor wearing out and you will have to manually push the window down. Or there could be some junk in the tailgate preventing it from dropping.

Otherwise.Get ready for some fun. You will have to put up the back window up. Put is up as high as you can but is can still open. Next take a phillips screwdriver and remove the inside panel. Once you have that removed you will be able to move your hand up in to the tailgate and maually pull the bar connecting the handle. More than likely the plastic connecter at the handle has been damaged or knocked loose. You should be able to fix it from there.

1988 brono rear electric window will not work , How do I access the motor , dosnt appear to be an access panel on tail gate ?

Drop the tailgate, remove the access panel on the inside of the tailgate. if the motor is turning but not doing anything, you should be able to pull the window out by hand which will allow access to the motor. support the window with a saw horse and one of those noodle things. To remove the motor you will have drill two holes in the tailgate. The replacement gear kit that I purchased had a template that you place over the area that needed to be drilled.
The holes allow a a socket on a 1/4 drive extension reach the bolts
holding the motor to the assembly. normally the only thing that is bad is the crush cylinders inside the gear assembly. I purchased my 1988 Bronco new in 1988 and have replaced the same parts at least 4 times. Hope this helps.

Rear window on my 1987 ford bronco will not work

This has several possiblilitys, it could be the switch in the dash has gone out even if it does not work with the key in the tailgate. other possible item could be the window motor or a sensor that detects if the gate is up or down. check motor wires for power when the switch is activated by pulling off the panel on the tailgate, if it is getting power i would suggest replacing the motor. if not you may have to trace wires to the drivers side of the tail gate and find the sensor.i had to by pass mine a while ago. makes it much easier to clean the glass on the inside cause the window will roll up with the gate down.

Replace motor on tailgate window on a 1987 ford bronco

You will likely have to remove the panel from the inside with the window up. Once you have the panel off I would try to have some one hold down on the switch while you tap the motor with a hammer. Of course make sure the latches are all the way closed as if the door is not closed all the way the window will not roll down as it has safety switches to keep this from happening.

If you still can not get it down then you will need to unbolt the regulator and let it down that way.

Key and dash switch for rear window does not work

Try pushing on the top of the tailgate above the keyhole while turning the key and try it a few times. You may need a friend to really push on it while you turn the key. This was my problem until I put new I believe" Strike bars" that the latch goes around in both my front doors and tailgate. Now I dont have to push on it for key to work, but I still need a new switch. Give it a shot before anything else.

Rearwindow/ door

if there are no broken wires inside the tailgate try lubing the latches with WD40 and open and close the tailgate several times. If the latches are properly closed on both sides the window will not work

Back door wont open and window wont go down

The rear window has to be completely down in order to move the tailgate! You should be happy that your window is stuck up, unlike mine which is stuck all the way down! I have to completly take apart my tailgate!! If you want to try a trick to get the rear window down, my bronco has a rear window switch right next to the headlight knob, take the 2 purple wires on that window switch, and cross them, if your motor still works and if the wires are good, that should make the window go down!!! good luck, hope that helps!
