Hello Joyce , lets see if you can give us a little more information first . The front windshield defroster doesn't work ? When you change the mode switch does air come out of the center vents , the floor ? What I'm getting at does the air flow change when you change the mode switch ?

My Winshield Defrost Quit Working. Heater, AC, and vents all working except the windshield defrost.

I'd have to check actuator movement for defrost. The actuator is electric according to my database. The actuator should be under dash at end of hvac housing.

How do I fix the defrost on the my Mitsubishi Galant? It wont change blower directions in order to go to defrost.

Need your model and year, please. The mode switch is usually operated by vacuum. The control panel mode switch receives vacuum supply from the intake manifold and distributes to the actuator doors as commanded by the control switch. If the vacuum supply is disconnected or leaking, the system defaults to one mode--which is usually defrost, but depends on the design. I can provide more details if you reply with model and year.

Very little air to defroster but dash is always blowing

There's a valve that's not switching fully... Like when you change from defroster to vent...It supposed to change to allow the air to go another direction...It might not be changing correctly or froze in position. There's a vacuum line that's pitched not allowing the valve to change also

Have a 93 sierra, cannot get air to defroster, can hear fan but will not blow on windshield ?

Can you hear your blend door at all. Does it change into other settings. Like to floor and vents. It could be your blend door actuator.

My air conditioner compressor comes on when i turn the dial to windshield/floor and goes off when i switch it to floor.

Do you mean the defrost position? Cause if so, that's what it should do. It's designed to come on for defrost to take the moisture off the glass in that setting and when you turn it to the floor setting, it turn's off unless you push the a/c on/off button to command it back on.
