The most common cause of poor fuel economy will be an improperly tuned engine. I recommend a full scale tune up, if not done so already. This is a good starting point. Here is a list that will assist further.

1. Fuel additive. Try adding an additive to scrub the fuel delivery system and motor crank case. A great additive will be Sea Foam. This is a single can additive. Once you have purchased this additive, simply pour half into the fuel tank, and the other half into the engine crank case. The additive is great for cleaning engine sludge, and carbon deposits as well.

2. Fuel Filter. If you filter has not been replaced recently, i would advise to preform the replacement, asap. a dirty, or clogged fuel filter will lower your MPG rate, and cause stalling as well. replace this filter if needed.

3.Vacuum Leaks. Verify that there are no leaks within the vacuum system. replace any lines that are worn, or cracked

4.Air Filter. Paper filters are good, but not great. I recommend replacing your standard air filter with an oil based air filter(K&N). this will increase the air flow, and improve combustion, as well. It will Give your engine a slight HP boost, also.

5. Tire pressure. Improperly inflated drive tires will affect your MPG. make sure your tires are inflated to the proper factory specs at all times. This will help.

New tune up.and air filter, pcv valve, and change the fuel filter, and the oil, replace the oil with a full synthtic oil.Use quality parts from napa auto parts,or some good brand filters and ignition parts.Use a bottle of lucas fuel treatment to clean the fuel system, and injectors, and clean out the plenium(upper intake) with some intake cleaner, spray.

How do you change it from kilometers to miles?

How do you change what? If it's a newer vehicle your talking about try searching through your menu on your dash which should have buttons on your wheel with the cruise control buttons as well. Should be where you can find your miles til Empty or how many miles a gal your actually getting. If you push info or setup button a few times you might just find the option

1987 fuel level guage issue 87 F150 Lariat XLT 5.0 2wd. Have a very similar situation. Front tank position shows empty even when I know there is gas. Rear tank position shows full after refilling but...

the gas is regulated from the switching valve you control off the dash. Check the valve to hear it switch
have a friend help you do this. it will be located under the truck between the two tanks. You may have a faultly valve or switch rattling inside changing the tanks setting also while driving which will be hard to tell

Repair of auto gear

If you are getting 18 miles per gallon you are doing very well. The normal MGP is 14-17 miles per gallon, so no problems there. Is the transmission fluid at the proper level? When was the last time your transmission fluid was changed?

The engine is turning fast

sadly the 70mph and 3 grand problem is something that cant be fixed. its because of the gearing these little kias have. believe it or not these were designed for offraoding. one thing you can do is go to a larger size tire a 235/75/R15 fit stuck with little or no rubbing and will bring the highway rpms down but the speedo will be off. as for the check engine light. get us a code and we can help with that too.
