Question about Chevrolet 2500

1998 Chev K2500, 5.7L..just had full tuneup ie cap, rotor, wires, plugs. had misfire on 5&7 prior to tuneup, now misses on 1&2...moreso on number 2. has code P0174. Miss appears at idle, above idle, miss is gone. No codes for misfire in history. Discovered during tuneup that cylinder 2 had an ac delco 41-803 spark plug while all 5 cylinders had 41-932 and two others on right bank had ap605(autolite equivalent of 41-932)

Check compression in all cylinders to see if its getting the same all around if not then thats why its misfiring but you want the same plug all the way around mismaching can hurt an engine

Why does my 2.2 GMC skip or miss while driving?

If you have the same problem after the tuneup as before you may have an injector problem or possibly a mechanical one. Ie. valves, timing chain, valve train.

Cylinder #2 is the the second spark plug counting from the right to left.

Your misfire can be cause by couple of things but the cheapest way that you can try to fix your car is to do a tune up by replacing:
1)all spark plugs
2)do a oil change
3)spark plug wires
3)distributor cap and rotor

note misfire can be cause by:
1.bad gas
2.spark plug and/or wire
3.distributor cap and/or rotor
4.valve adjustment
5.injector
6.off timing
7.ECM
8.bad wiring(power, ground or feed line)

Engine began to miss after overheating episode. All hoses, radiator, thermostat, and cap have been replaced. Ran fine until this time. Began to miss sporadically after cooling system...

  1. Have your timing belt checked and replaced. Sounds like it may have jumped, or is stretched.
  2. If after repairing any timing issues you are still facing this problem, it may be time to have the fuel injectors tested and the fuel pump tested and replace as necessary.

Changed all 8 plugs on a 1998 expecition, then misfires started under load, none supposedly prior. changed all coils, reinspected plugs for damage, crackes etc-changed some again- no codes during first week...

The first thing I would check is, are any of the plug wires crossed. Your firing order should be 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8, the cylinders are number front to back passenger side 1 2 3 4, drivers side 5 6 7 8.

1998 Chev Astro 4.3L AWD. Rough idle & misfire Cylinder 6

Hi, the 4.3 liters have an injection system on them that can leak and will show up as a misfire. it is common but elusive to find. you might consider taking the van to a repair shop to have the problem diagnosed and go on from there.

1998 chev 5.7l bad miss when driving at idle no miss code p0302 and code p1133 please help

Make sure plug & wire good on # 2 cylinder, something may be misfiring on that one. (that's code 302)
1133 is oxygen sensor, bank 1, sensor 1, should be drivers side, before catalytic converter, but double check at parts store to be sure.

Misfire on 3

Misfire on 3 could mean bad plug or bad wire...or the distributor cap has a bad spot in the 3 position. Time for a tuneup. Get all new cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Should be around $100.
