blinking light means engine is misfiring. continuing to drive will severely damage the engine. The O2 sensor should not be related to your engine misfiring

Hi:
Usually the only thing that can cause the check engine light to blink is a cylinder misfire. Have your car codes scanned again to find out what the code is and go from there. Most local auto parts stores, such as Auto zone, will scan your car for free and tell you what possibly caused the light.

bank #1is to the left of the engine when looking from the engine to the gearbox, the o2(lambda probe)sensor is on the exhaust down pipe.easier to get to from underneath.it looks like a small 1"round,2"long cigar with a wire on the top.

My 2001 mazda check engine light is on . I had

Did you have the check engine light reset? Did the light turn back on? You will have to probably install a pressure gauge ahead of each converter and see if one of them is plugged. You can use a pressure gauge in the hole for the O2 Sensor.

I am getting a P0031, P1512, & P0421 code

P0031 - most likely pointing to a failed O2 sensor (bank 1 sensor 1 is located before the catalytic converter)

P0421 - failed catalytic converter or a failed O2 sensor

P1512 - intake manifold shutter valve is stuck - may be caused by the O2 sensor, but may not

I recommend replacing your O2 sensor first and see what happens

Engine light blinking in my Mazda MPV

A BLINKING ENGINE LIGHT INDICATES AN ENGINE CYLINDER IS MIS-FIRING. HAVE THE TROUBLE CODES TESTED TO DETERMINE WHICH ONE. DO NOT DRIVE THIS WAY AT HIGH SPEEDS AS IT MAY OVERHEAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND CREATE A FIRE HAZARD.

O2 sensor

There should be two O2 sensors. If you look inbetween the engine and radiator following the exhaust manifold down to the exhaust pipe you should run into the 1st O2 sensor, following the pipe down stream under the vehical towards the catalytic converter you should find the second O2 sensor. The 1st O2 should be easy but the 2nd might be difficult depending on your abilities. Coils will depend on 4 or 6 cyls, 1 for each cyl. Repair man, go to, pep boys, napa, auto zone, advanced auto parts to name a few.
