The sending switch is on the back upper side of the engine behind the intake. about the size of a shotgun shell. they sell a kit or you might find someone to loan you one to srew into where the sender goes. start the vehicle and monitor pressure

What should the cold start oil psi and the 190 degree warm up oil psi be on a 2000 to 2002 gmc Yukon with a 5.3 eng

Different engines can show different values. Sometimes it is the sensor itself that causes the variation. The pressures that you are witnessing are well within operation norms and are nothing to be worried about. As long as you don't experience severe drops in oil pressure during acceleration and deceleration, then the oil pressure system is working well.

if the guage is unreliable and its the only one that is, may switch to an aftermarket separate oil pressure guage that mounts elsewhere and be done with the situation entirely..these run around 25 bucks and its time to install and it wont fail like electronic ones do...

MY 97 yukon has Rough idle, loud knocking at high torque, and oil pressure goes from 40psi to 0psi. what do you think is the problem?

Checking oil level won't tell you anything

You need to put a mechanical gauge on
the motor, you can't go by the dash for accuracy

You could have many things that need to be
done preventative maintenance wise before
you even start to diagnose the couple of current
issues

Dash Check Lights?
Codes?
Driven for two years & never worked on?

We can't guess, you need a repair shop to
give you the solution

you will need to put a pressure gauge right on the engine to see whats real. Do an oil service with filter. This could help, If the pressure is stll low you could put a oil pump in and hope for the best. As long as you have pressure you should be ok. 20psi at idle can be a sign of old oil so cross your fingers.

you may have a bad oil filter, the best check is to install an oilpressure guage to find out what the actual pressure is, or maybe you put in too light an an oil,
