Question about 2008 Ford Shelby GT500

1 Answer

Under load and not under load, my 460 engine goes to 4000rpms, flattens out for a second (or so), then continues on up to limiter set rpms...what is causing this? This engine is in a 1966 Cobra kit car.

If it was my i would take it by a speed shop and have the camshaft and bearing on the cam shaft checkout give these websites a try www.autozone.com and www.alldatadiy.com i would also stop by a ford dealership to see if there is some one there who is old school and know something about these engines if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a old 1978 lincoln book that had a 460 engine in it wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

3.0l engine. OK when cold. When it warms up, why does it miss and flatten out under load?

Sorry to say, If you had the work done at a shop. shops just don't give your new, remanned,or used motor or transmission the best shot at living a long or extended life. Unless new. But ts is still marginal.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 Engine. Starts fine, Idles fine, but when engine shifts into high gear and RPM lowers engine runs really rough under load

Have you checked for a broken valve spring. Repaired a dodge engine with the same running issue as you have described and it was a broken intake valve spring.

2006 rx8 Son flooded it. I changed plugs and wires runs but no power until 4000 rpm is it a pluged cat or something else about 93000 miles just bought car two months ago ran fine when he bought it. no...

If this is a Mazdfa rx8 with a rotary motor then it will probably be as it is supposed to be unless it is turbo powered in which check out the turbo operation. Rotary engines do not have power under 3000rpms as they need to be spinning before the torque range cuts in. The rx8 had a 13b engine and the latest version of the engine had as much power as a standard v8 above 4000rpms and reved to close on 11000 rpms

98 gmc jimm 4x4 4.3l v6 replaced plugs, wires and distributor cap and rotor. Still getting P0304 code and rough idle. Higher rpms flatten out roughness but take off feels off. Any help??

spray carb/choke cleaner all around intake gasket mating surface on heads. (while motor is running) If rpms change you have a bad intake gasket.

I have a 2008 nissan sentra with a 2.0 cvt automatic tranny.when i switch off od ,the rpms go up to 4000rpms at 60 mph. and stay there till i slow down.is this normal?

turning over drive off limits how much the pully can open, its normal, you should always have the od on unless your racing at the drag strip.

Engine problem

The codes don't match up to the chart. Do the keydance again and see if there is any difference.

here's the codes http://www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=PCM%20Error%20Codes

24 (Throttle position sensor voltage does not agree with MAP)
14 (MAP sensor voltage too low/too high)
Points to the map sensor.

I've scanned a couple pages in my Haynes manual and uploaded them for you. These pages will help you check out the sensors.

More than likely it's the map sensor. I remember when i turboed my car i had major problems with the safc and the map sensor. It would act just like yours does. The ecu doesn't use the map sensor in closed loop mode. Open loop starts at 4000rpms and will start reading values from the map. If it is receiving values not in spec then it will limit the rpms and stay locked in closed loop.

Replace the map sensor and let me know how it turns out.
