You need to checkout the crank sensor and the wires to the ignition switch the ingnition itself maybe bad give these websites a try www.autozone.com and www.alldatadiy.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man. also make sure the battery has a good charge on it.

Chryslert&c wont start engine cranks ,but will not start

check rotor in distributor sometimes the screw falls out and the car cranks but isn't getting a spark to burn the fuel to start the vehicle. you may have to check your spark plug wires one by one to see if theres a spark or to star take a wire off and see if it gives a spark if not u know why the car wont start. You will need someone to help you as you cant be under the hood and in the car at the same time. could be a bad coil or several issues but when my Nissan died and wouldn't start is was a simple fix.

1989 nissan maxima, cranks, no start

Check sparks, fuel pressure, injectors (should have ac volts while cranking), and if all that is good, check valve timing.

Cranks but doesnt start

I am a self emplyed mechanic, if a motor cranks but does not start, that is not a starter, you need to see if you have gas or spark . is there a buzzing in the gas tank when you turn the key. if so then you have gas. now you needto see if you have spark. need 2 people to do this . pull a spark plug wire and stick a screw drive in the boot and crank the motor please stand back, and look for spark. if you have spark. then you need a crank position sensor thank you ted

2001 maxima wont start after changing crank and cam sensors

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Why won't my car stay started when i put the key

these jeeps are famous for the crank sensor going when the car wont run check the injector circuit it will show no voltage if you change the crank sensor make sure you hold it in when you tighten the bolt if you start the engine and start getting misfire codes loosen the crank sensor push it in just a little bit more you only have a few thousands of an inch it makes a difference . new sensors have a cardboard circle glued on them to prevent you from pushing it in so it hits the flywheel i had an issue where it had to be pushed in twice to run right auto parts store 38.00 dealer wanted 170.00 i bought the 38.00 one hope this helps

My car wont start

Have a buddy turn the key on run while you get down by your fuel tank and listen for the fuel pump. If you don't hear anything try hitting it while the key is still on run. Sometimes this helps. Still get a new pump even if that helps. Trust me! If the fuel pump works, check to see if there is fuel pressure in the rail.
If it is a spark issue, take out an easy to reach spark plug and reattach the wire. Lay it on the plenum of the motor so the threads are touching metal. Have someone turn the engine over while you look to see if the spark plug is sparking. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING WHILE SOMEONE IS CRANKING! Just make sure the threads are properly touching metal before cranking. If no spark is seen you can try to relocate it but just make sure it is not being cranked while you are touching it. Be careful! That will at least help you find out if it is lacking fuel, or spark.

Car will not crank sometimes unless you turn the key many times.

Check battery connections. Sometimes a weak connection will fail under very high loads like starting.
