Either the lock rod has come of and become jammed or the lock mechanism in the door has gone bad, most any mechanic can get that fixedfor you.

yes each door has an actuator. my guess would lead more towards the wiring than the actuator though. you will ave some time testing to see where the power ends and go from there.

this could be broken wires in the space between the body of the car and the door panel itself.other wise it sounds like the door locks in the doors are bad.you don`t say if this started all of a sudden or one door started to not work then another and so on.its possible that it is the wires coming from the switches them self going to the other doors.

Power locks don't work with remote or control from

The door lock/unlock input from the driver's key switch goes to the Door Multiplex control unit (main switch), the Door multiplex control unit then sends a signal on the BUS (CAN) circuit to the passenger's multiplex control unit; the passenger's multiplex control unit then controls all the door locks. The passenger's door lock key switch inputs to the passenger's multiplex control unit, if the locks work from the passenger's side key switch but not the driver's side key switch, the most likely cause is the driver's multiplex control unit (main switch) not sending the signal to the passenger's side multiplex control unit. This could also be the drivers side door lock actuator. Hope this helps!

the solenoid may be weak, or it can be lubed. you will need to remove the door panel and see how it works, and try to lube it, or see if there is any binding.

I do have a book on the 1996 but no on me but I have had a problem with it the same, Get in and sit in the drivers set and push lock from the in side and then do the same but this time unlock it and then get out and try to use the remote. if no then try to do the same thing but in the passenger side. lock and then unlock. no then call the ford dealer shop and they have a alarm department that will help you and I know because I had then do a job on one of my other cars and I was charged $20.00 he did it on a side job. sounds like the drivers side key switch has failed remove the interior door panel and there will be a switch attached to the back of the key lock cylinder or around there it should be two or three wires also check the door jamb wire harness where the door closes for any broken or damaged wires, use a vot meter and see if you get power or ground to the opposite side of the switch when you use the key to lock and unlock the door if nothing changes and there is power or ground! at this switch i would replace it, i don't think there is one but if the car has a passenger side key hole try to unlock the car from that side and see if you get the same problem -jeff
