You need a special tool for that if you are unable to compress it with your fingers. That tool is called, 'snap-ring plier'. If you visit a well stocked tool shop, you should find one at a low price. Many 'easy' ones come from China these days.

How do I separate the bearing assembly on a cv axle of 1990 Plymouth grand voyager mini van

cv joints are held together by a wire circlip at the end of the shaft that goes in to the center csection
place the long section of the axle in a large vice and do it up tight
hold the short section straight and using a heavy hammer ( copper faced is best) hit the out side case of the short shaft
that shock will compress the circlip and allow the long section to come out of the center section
having done that as you turn the center section at right angles to the short case , the balls will fall out as yo move it around
take particular care as to how it is fitted before you pull it apart as that center section will only fit in one way correctly
after you have reassembled it correctly then lone up the long shaft with the splines and hit the end of the short shaft to drive the center section back over the circlip
the correct grease to use is molybond as it doesn't dry out like chassis grease

Can the full front axle be exchanged from a 02 mazda 626 to a 97 mazda 626?

You install a complete reman front drive axle

If you like, you can buy a new one,for more money

The CV Joints (2) are part of the axle assy, you
will see that in the pictures your ordering from

You order parts that are application specific

No need to worry what fits another vehicle

Have to get the correct side, they are different lengths
& part numbers

How do I remove the cv axle in a ford telstar 1993 - both sides

Line the outer up in the right place and enter it until the circlip is against the splines . Use a large heavy hammer and rap the end of the shaft hard and the circlip will pop in the groove and allow the shaft to go home.. Removal from the shaft is much the same as it has a circlip inside the transmission. So remove the shaft from the wheel. Use a hammer to hit the cv joint so that it jumps the shaft out of the transmission .

94 mazda 626 cv shaft removal

Stick a large screwdriver or prybar between the CV housing and the transmission case, and pop it out. There is a little circlip in a groove near the end of the shaft inside the transaxle. It is there to seat the shaft and prevent it from slipping out during driving.

Howdy, 94 Isuzu bighorn diesel. Need to replace front cv boot. Have stripped it all down so the cv joint is exposed and lose but still attached to the shaft. Have cut away old boot to look at what is...

if you are trying to reassemble the cv joint ( why ever you would need to pull it apart in the first place as the new boot slips over the assembly)
do it outside of the transmission or you will damage the transmission internals
place the transmission end on a block of wood
line up the shaft and hit the top end with a heavy mallet
( sledge hammer will burr the ends )
of you are just putting the shaft back in the transmission to reassemble the front end , line up the splines and use the mallet to start the splines into place by compressing the circlip

How do I remove the outer CV joint from the axle?

After removing the axle assembly, clip the metal band on the large side of the rubber grease boot, slide the boot back on the axle shaft. Pull the outer CV housing and axle stub away from the CV joint. You will find that there is a circlip holding the bearing carrier onto the axle shaft, remove it. Remove the boot.

Installation is the reverse of removal.
