Hi,

CAUTION
If equipped with an Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) engine, you must first release the fuel system pressure, before removing the fuel filter.

The fuel filter on all models is a disposable plastic unit, located at the rear of the engine compartment. The filter should be replaced at least every 24,000 miles (38,647 km). A dirty filter will starve the engine and cause poor running.

It's the little one, in this diagram:

fuel filters possibly blocked where are they - 9eb47e8.gif
Locate the fuel filter on the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment. Place a container under the filter to catch the excess fuel.

  1. Loosen the hose clamps, then disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the fuel filter. Make certain that the inlet hose (bottom) doesn't fall below the fuel tank level or gasoline will drain out.
  2. Pry the fuel filter from its clip and replace the assembly.
  3. Position new hose clamps, if necessary, then connect the inlet and outlet lines. Make sure that the closest edge of each hose clamp is 1⁄8 in. (3mm) from the end of the hose before tightening. NOTE: Ensure that the screw does not contact adjacent parts.
  4. Start the engine and check for leaks

I have a 1988 ford f150 straight six. I have reploaced the fuel pump and both relays and it still is not getting fuel. What can the problem be?

A possible blocked fuel filter, defective fuel filler cap, blocked fuel tank breather pipe, blocked injectors or faulty float in any carburetor version.

Seems like no fuel reaching motor, possible block in fuel filter?

The fuel line from the tank, the fuel pump, to the fuel filter and the fuel injection system , pump and injectors must be checked ONE BY ONE.
However the fuel filter must be changed in a span of about at least 10000 miles or much earlier if the fuel has dirt .
A code check can determine your fault and your electrical system must also be looked into.

Where is the fuel pump and fuel filter located?

Hi, the fuel filter is located along the drivers side of the car where the fuel line runs back to the gas tank and the fuel pump relay is located in an electrical block on the fenderwall, above the battery.
Take care

How do i change the fuel filter in my 1985 cadillac deville (gasoline)

FUEL INJECTED ENGINES The fuel filter on fuel injected vehicles may be located in one of two locations. On all 1976–79 vehicles except the Seville, the filter is mounted in the engine compartment near the fuel pump. On the 1976–79 Seville, and all 1980–85 vehicles, the fuel filter is located on the left side of the chassis just ahead of the rear axle. On 1986–89 vehicles, the filter can be found near the frame, in back of the left front wheel. There are two types of fuel filters used on the gasoline fuel injected vehicles, the one-piece disposable inline filter, used on all 1982–86 250 and 1988–89 273 V8 engines, and the replaceable element type filter used on all the other engines. CAUTION
Fuel is under high pressure: if the steps below are not followed, the fuel could spray out and result in a fire hazard and possible injury.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Release the pressure from the fuel system:
    • Without pressure fitting: Cars without a pressure fitting in the fuel line, cover the fitting to be removed with a shop towel while loosening so that fuel will be absorbed. Dispose of gasoline properly.
    • With pressure fitting: Locate the pressure fitting in the fuel line and remove the protective cap. Loosely install a special valve depressor (G.M. tool no. J-5420) on the fitting. Wrap a towel around the fitting to block any spray and slowly tighten the tool until the pressure has been relieved.
  3. Replace the filter as follows:
    1. On the replaceable element type filter; the fuel filter element is replaced by unscrewing the bottom cover and removing the filter element. Replace the element and gasket with an AC type GF 157 or equivalent. Hand tighten the bottom cover.
    2. On the in-line disposable type filter; the fuel filter canister is replaced by loosening the fitting on the end of the filter, then use a pair of pliers to expand the clamp on the other end and slide it down past the point where the hose extends over the inlet of the filter. Gently twist and remove the hose, unscrew and remove the fitting. Remove and discard the old filter. Install the new filter into the hose and replace the clamp. Reinstall the fitting, and check for leaks with the engine idling. NOTE: A dry fuel system on cars equipped with EFI/DFI may require a substantial cranking period before starting. Be sure to crank the engine in short bursts, allowing time for the starter motor to cool between each burst. I had a similar problem with an earlier S Saturn. Turned out to be the crank sensor which is inserted into the block from the rear of the engine, just above the starter.

Where is the location of fuel filter on a bmw 325 ci

Hi, The fuel filter is located at the entry of the gasoline tank. It filters fuel that is incoming. If you notice, unlike other cars where you can siphon fuel from the tank outside, you cannot in this bmw model because the fuel filter will block the siphoning tube. It is located just below the cover and entry into the fuel tank.
Thanks,

Fuel filter location

The fuel filter location for a 2005 Hyundai Accent depends on where it was manufactured and when. It is possibly mounted external, on the outside of the fuel tank directly above the fuel pump and accessible by removing the back seat. The other possibility is that it is mounted inside the fuel tank and requires removing the back seat, the metal panel, the fuel pump itself and then accessing the filter.

Help this helps and good luck.
