on the p1299 by adding antifreeze would that or could that take care of that problem, my guess is it just has water in it without any antifreeze, or engine coolant

and on the other p0320 could that be the cam shaft sensor

btw this is a 2002 jeep liberty

The codes are as follows,
P0320 does state it is for the crank sensor. If this codes comes back even thought you replaced it, there is still an issue, maybe wiring, but not common.
P1299 states a vacuum leak, and that the idle air control valve has closed, maybe due to the vacuum leak. These are two seperate issues, but may be related.
I'm assuming you cleared the codes and they come back?
Look around for an air leak, as it may be an intake leak. Sometimes you can spray carb cleaner around the gasket area to hear if the idle changes, to try to find the area.
Also, call a dealer to see if there was an issue. Some times dealers had to "flash" PCm's due to bad software.

Hello

The codes you are getting:

P1299
- Cylinder Head Over Temperature Protection Active Indicates an engine overheat condition was detected by the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor. An FMEM Strategy called Fail-safe Cooling was activated to cool the engine. Engine cooling system concerns

Causes:
Low engine coolant level
Base engine concerns

P0320 - Ignition Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction - The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to PCM is continuously monitored . P0320 indicates that two successive erratic profile ignition pickup ( PIP ) pulses have occurred

causes: loose wires / connectors , arching secondary ignition components ( coil , wires , + plugs ) , on board transmitter ( 2 - way radio )

This is the explanation for the error codes you are receiving, at least it is a good place to start looking for the problem. Hope this can help you.

Kind regards
Andrea

P1299 code after replacing the plenum gasket. Rough and sometimes erratic idle.

This code indicates a large vacuum leak. You can sometimes find a leaky gasket by spraying ether on the gaskets while the engine idles. If the engine changes speed while the gasket is sprayed, you have found the leak.

Car stopped running while driving diagnostic codes read p0320 and p0171 what is the remedy?

Trouble code P0320 means: Ignition Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

Crankshaft Speed sensor should be replaced.

I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE CUTS OFF

Do you have a big bunch of keys swinging from the ignition switch? Sometimes the weight of lots of keys wears out the contacts in the back of the switch and you end up with an intermittent case of the car dying. Try wiggling the key when you are driving and see if that creates your problem. If that is your problem, the only fix is a new ignition switch. This problem won't give you a code because, so far as the computer is concerned, you have switched off the engine and switched it back on again.

Not trying to be shrude here but for an ASE certified master mechanic for GM, why don't you just use the codes with the ODBII Scan tool and fix the issue. You have the codes so run with it!
