Holden Rodeo 4WD not selecting 2WD or4WD - 1992 model manual gearbox

You can now see the axles themselves and try to rotate them manually. While engaged in 4wd - they should not move more than a 1/4 turn. If both move free your diff or transfer box are bad, depending whether you see the front driveshaft moving or not. If drvshft is moving - transfer is bad. If not - the diff is gone. If only one is free - your axle is broken. Not a biggie to diagnose but one hell of a pita to fix... I'd advise you to head to the shop and and have a pro fix it. Cheers emi

Transmission will not engae any gear

re/check your oil level as it possibly lower then you thought ,as an auto gearbox needs the level to be full, dont rev the gearbox trying to get it to move this will damage the bands inside the gear box,

Why doesnt my car go in reverse the reverse lights go on and it kicks but no movement

if you have an automatic gear box , then it is very possible that you have reverse band is broken inside gear box , , light will come on because switch for reverse lights may be actuated by shift lever not gears .

there is a foward band and reverse band in auto gerabox's so if you are able to drive forward this gearbox will need to be repaired or replaced .

if manual gearbox , you may find a reverse linkage loose , or gears dammaged in gear box .
good luck hope this helps

If you get your nads on a 2.0L turbochraged evo enigne, and gearbox and make it 4wd, it will be the fastest mirage, you will have....if you keep to standard 2wd gearbox, you will burn clutches like no other...and it will smoke the tyres instead of launching, becuase of it being a fwd

I need to converd my 2wd 1999 ford F350 into a

Yes, it can be done, but it will be highly expensive as it will be necessary to replace the gearbox and the front axle and to add a transfer box , a cardan shaft and all the commands. In the end it will be cheaper to just sell your 2WD and buy a same year 4WD.

Is it possible to turn off the 4wd on my 98 laredo or is it engaged all the time

If you have a 4WD on your Laredo (mostly this version is sold as 2WD - rear wheel drive), you can't turn them off. The Granny with 4WD has a All Time 4WD. The only way to turn it off is to remove the drive shaft and close the hole in the gearbox...smile..

Tell me how to remove gearbox

The best and quickest way is to remove both engine and trans together as a single unit out of the BOTTOM of the Rav4. This is how the service was designed. I can send you cutsheets with visual diagrams if you need it is a 2 page replacement procedure for the Rav4 2wd. I'm assuming the 4wd is much more work.
