Question about 2007 Ford Edge SEL Plus

Open Question

Had my 2007 Ford Edge in for it's second PTU seal leak. Now the vehicle pulls to the right when driving. Dealer states it had nothing to do with the recent repair. Could this pull have anything to do with the seal being replaced?

SOURCE: pinion seal leaking

check your rear diff vent if pluged clean it out and clean up the pinion seal.sometimes if the leak is caused by pluged vent and has not been leaking long once vent is clean sometimes the leak will stop.there is not a specific torque amount because it is rotational torque(how hard to turn pinion).there is a crush sleve on the pinion and if torqued too tight or too loose brg preload will be wrong and brg damage could result.mark and remove drive shaft.remove rear wheels, brakes, when turning pinion you dont have any drag from brakes or axles.mark the position of the yoke on the pinion.remove yoke, replace seal, reinstall yoke be sure to replace pinion nut.tighten nut until it takes the exact same amount of force to turn pinion as before taking original pinion nut off.hope this helps.

There should be a big nut in the center of the wheel hub. You will have to remove atleast one of the ball joints if it's IFS.

SOURCE: Rear drive shaft seal leaking

Yes, but you will need to mark the yoke position and exact number of turns to remove the nut or you will change ring and pinion gear lash setting when re-installing it. You can use a large pipe wrench to hold the yoke still while tightening, or get a special tool made for that.

My 2007 ford edge brakes are so hard that the car want hardily stop unless I press ******* brakes. I bleed the brakes and still doing it. What is this?

have the brake pads and disks checked immediately

also have the servo looked atm you need to do this before driving the vehicle is a hazard to yourself / family and other road users.

You say you have bled the brakes why?
Have you checked the wheel cylinders are not leaking brake fluid on the pads which might be why the vehicle is not stopping

Crankshaft oil seal

ring your ford dealer and give him the vehicle details and they will find the right seal that you need or you can ring a bearing and seal supplier in your area and give them the details of your car, they are most probably a lot cheaper too.

Clunking in the front end of 2010 Edge

You might have your dealer check TSB

It has to do with the Power Transfer Unit, also known as a PTU. This COULD be the issue. As far as something coming apart and causing an accident, that is highly unlikely, but anything is possible. And your concern should be expressed to your dealer. Most, if not all corner shops are not equipped to handle your concern and it should be addressed by a Ford Dealership.

Either you have an oil leak dripping onto the exhaust or an engine breather pipe is loose or ruptured. Eitherway have these checked out as they pose one or both of a fire or health hazard.

Front right differential seal is leaking. Is it much to repair? Is it something that I could do myself with limited mechanical ability? Approx. how much should it cost at Ford to do. Is there an...

You mean the axle seal is leaking if it is not the one that is for the driveshaft. If you have limited mechanical ability I would recommend that you take it to a shop to have it repaired. There are special tools that are used to drive the seal back in and if you're not careful when installing it the new one could leak as well. As for time to repair it, book time for the right front axle seal is 1.3hours to remove and install the axle and .2hours to replace the seal. So 1.5 hours times the shop rate is what it will cost you, and shop rates vary so shop around. Check your Ford dealer also it could be warranty, I believe Fords warranty is 3 years 60 000 kms so you still might have warranty for it. Also I personally don't ever like to use stop leak additives for anything, its best to just fix the problem. Those things sometimes cause more problems than they're worth.

Good Luck, if you have any more questions please ask.

Driver side floor water leak in 2007 ford edge. Looks like it's coming from the dash area. Any ideas? Tks.

Well, you are on the right path; the rubber seal around the windshield could indeed be deteriorating...what may be happening is the water is coming through the cowling and pooling up on the seal the water sits, the seal deteriorates and eventually you will see water like you are now.

My recommendation to you is to take your Edge to a shop and ask them to look for a leak at the bottom seal of the windshield.

I say get a second opinion on how bad the oil leak is. The dealer should be willing to cover some of the cost as the vehicle has not done that many miles. A Continental with that many miles should not leak! I think they might be trying to take your money. Buy a cheap white sheet and park the car on top of if after a decent trip and see what is there in the morning. if nothing dont stress about it.
