It could be a computer but most likely its the coil or ignition module, or crank sensor if your car has one. Testing will confirm what is at fault.

I have a Toyota Camry 2002 Se V6, I changed the catalyst converter, all the O2 sensors, new mass air flow new air filter they shut the light off it came back on but I also smelt a buning oil and I have oil

did you get the computer read for the fault code or codes that set off the engine check light the first time and now this time?just trying to establish why all these things were replaced.generally if a cat melts down it is caused by poor fuel burn,o2 sensors and sparkplug leads,or coils if direct fire type on the top of each sparkplug. If these arent right, the cat will overheat and smell like burning oil.But it should run unevenly or down on power if misfiring. It seems as if you hadn't finished your description....and I have oil.....leak perhaps?this shouldnt trigger light unless it is leaking onto a sensor and it would have to damage it or affect the reading of it to computer.Hope this helps or get back with some more information.

Engine will turn over but won't fire (87 v 6 engine)

check your spark plugs. on older machines, overtime are neglected and are rarely changed.
Also, if your sparkplugs arent the issue, check the Gas Line. a common problem with this is your gas lines may incur crystalization inside and hence looks like a Cancerous Lung. Filling up with more and more only is harder on your engine.
Hope that Helped! -Jordon :)

03 ford taurus wont fire ,spins over,no fire

What you do is take either and old sparkplug from the car or pull one from the car and connect one of the sparkplug wires to it. Then with an insulated set of pliers hold the sparkplug so the electrode is grounded. Then have someone crank the car over. This is best done at night so you can see if there is a spark. During the day however you should be able to here a spark. If not probably a bad coil.
