Assuming that the computer is cutting off the engine for overheating protection (thinking that the vehicle has no coolant), there are three distinct possibilities. One is the sensor. verify it works by putting a metal strip across the two contacts on the coolant side, and see if the light goes out. The second is the wiring. Verify that all the wiring and insulation is sound, then check the connections for looseness. The third one depends on the sensor location. Sometimes there is an air bubble in the cooling system on a sensor, and that just needs to be bled out. I hope this helps you!

SOURCE: low coolant light

When that happens it is usually because the coolant level membrane sensor is faulty.

Repair is not expensive, but must be done by a qualified mechanic.

SOURCE: My 95 Taurus Sho 3.2L, stalls every day. All

Will it stall if you keep your foot on the gas like the Idle speed is set low? Possible Idle speed motor? I'll have to look up the location of the low coolant sensor.

SOURCE: my low coolant light comes on and there is plenty

The problem is the coolant level sensor. What happens is that dirt buildup and sediment gets on the sensor and it is not able to detect liquid. It is located on the over flow fill tank or in the passengers side of the radiator about 4 inches down on the inside of the plastic tank.If it is on the over flow then just tap on the bottom of the tank where the sensor is located and usually the light will go off.If it is in the radiator just replace the sensor and the light will go off.Do not do this when the system is hot.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Low coolant light stays on when there is plenty of coolant

Try to reset the computer by removing the + battery cable from the battery. Wait at least 30 seconds and re-connect. Check to see if problem is corrected. If code remains replace the sensor in the coolant canister.

1998 grand prix gtp stalls when coming to a stop and low coolant light stays on but car does not run hot.

Stalls when coming to a stop- have idle control motor checked as this may possibly be the cause.
Low coolant light stays on- there is a low coolant sensor located on the radiator on the passenger side. They are known to go bad on these models, this is a possible cause. Have your mechanic take a look at it.

Low coolant light is on but does not overheat and

There is a low coolant sensor down alongside the radiator. Either the wire came off or the sensor has failed. Other than the annoyance of the light being on if you keep an eye on the coolant level it will cause no harm.

Problem i have an audi a6 and my coolant light has come on

Check your coolant level. When the coolant gets too low this light will come on. If there is plenty of coolant and the light is still on, you probably need to replace the coolant resivouir because the sensor has gone bad. The sensor is located on the coolant resivour and must be replaced as a whole. You can find one for about 60 bucks and is a easy fix. You can do it yourself. Just make sure you replace the coolant with correct Audi coolant.

C.

The low water light stays on. the car has plenty of water. Its overheating, I know the fan is not coming on. Is the fan motor out or is there a sensor that may cause the problen?

Now you have to find out why the fan motor was fried. The will usually last a very long time. Also your low coolant light and the fan not coming on are totally unrelated.

If the low coolant light comes on and its not low on coolant, then the float inside the tank is sticking. Remove the resevoir tank and clean it our with hot water and dish soap. 9 times out of 10 this frees up the float and you're good to go.

Also Saturn S-Series with the SOHC have head problems, DOHC's usually dont unless they're abused.
