Rattling sound could be a catalitic converter and the code could be a catalist efficiency below threashold. This would explain why the vehicle lacks power. Only sure way is to scan the vehicle. Usually Auto Zone provides this service for free. Just know that it is a starting point and not an actual diagnostic.

Tcs light flashes and p0340 code

P0340 code means "Something" is wrong in the timing...
from CMP (Camshaft Position sensor) to the crankshaft bolt.

Very first thing, verify connectors are clean and shiny.
clear all codes, even hard codes.

My 2004 Prius has a rattling metallic sound on acceleration. It is coming from the top of the engine on the passenger side. Does anyone know what this can be?

Does the car make this sound when the car has just been turned off and engine is still hot? Lightly push the car back and forth while it's in park. Does it still make that sound?

NOt picking up speed

The only real way to diagnose this issue is to have it taken to a shop and have them put a tester on the car to find the issue. I can send you on a goose chase for all kinds of parts and wast time till we finally guess correct and I don't want you to throw bad money after good till we get this correct. It simply sounds like a a cam or crankshaft sensor and the computer is not gettig correct datat to make the engine run correctly but with out testing I can't say for certain

Loud engine noise at certain speeds

could very well be a timing issue if it sounds like a rattling or a very poor grade ofuel. If you are using regular fuel, try putting some premium in next fuel up. It should be repaired mconyuinued driving can cause damge.

Engine Making Noise when accelerating

Could be carbon build-up on the pistons, causing erratic flame travel in the combustion chamber... 'pinging'...... Decarbon the engine and use a high grade fuel for a few tanks.... also an octane booster can help
