have you checked if the fuel indictor is defective? you could try to fill the tank to the top and see if it moves but if the sensor needs replacing you now have a full tank of gas to get rid of. also check fuses as the dial may be out? so you have fuel but the dial does not show it.

It sounds like the sending unit float isn't working in the tank,or gas is just running out as your filling it

I am not sure on yours , but the newer ones you can replace the pump from the trunk area. You don't have to drop the tank. To access the pump remove the spare tire cover and you will see the pump cover.

Oil pressure rises as I accelerate the car/ put my foot on the gas. The service engine light comes on...this has never happened. Its a 93 pontiac bonneville

what does the pressure rise too? Its normal to rise somewhat. I dont think the Service Engine soon light is related to the oil gauge operation.

Where is fuel sensor located on 1993 pontiac bonniville

If you're looking for the fuel level sensor, then it's part of the fuel pump assemble, which is located inside your gas tank. In order to access it, you have to drop your gas tank, unhook everything attached to it, and you'll see a ring on the top where the lines come out of the tank. You have to turn this to unlock it, and the whole assembly comes out, and you can replace the fuel pump assembly. You'll want to empty as much gas out of it as you can, as it makes it easier to put it back up in the car once you get the pump back in. Once you do this, put everything back like it was when you unhooked it, and put the gas back in it, and you're set.

1. Air filter dirty
2. Bad engine ground connection.
3. Loose connection in the ignition system.
4. Faulty idle control system.
5. Faulty emissions or engine control system.
6. Fuel not reaching the injectors.

These are the 6 most common solutions. For yours, i would certainly be checking the engine ground cable, as your gauges are acting up too. Take it right off, clean the rust if there is any. Bend it back and forth every inch or so to see if there are any breaks or melted spots in it. Or, better yet, just throw it away and get a new one. Good luck, hope this helps.

1992 Pontiac Bonn

I had a 98 GMC Savana cargo van that did something like that. My speedo would go crazy and the car would want to stall giving it gas. Couldnt get up speed over 20-25 MPH. It ended up being a speed sensor. I'm no machanic but a shop had replaced it and she ran nice after that.
