Some of the H body cars around that year have a SPLIT cradle i can't remember what year though
the answer to your question yes take the trans. only
the only way to get both together is drop it out the bottom
so check the right front corner and see if there is bolts in the frame(cradle) if not then the whole cradle will have to come out
hope this helps

I pulled all the bellhousing bolts..motor mount bolts...and can't seperate the 4 speed granny transmission from the engine block...what's the problem..everything is lose but won't seperate..

The input shaft (on the front of the trans) is inserted into the clutch plate, so the trans has to move straight backward (or the engine has to move straight forward) about two or three inches to separate the two, before either one can move up or down.

Make sure that you can get them to rotate slightly with respect to each other, to make sure that there is not one more bolt somewhere that is still holding them together.

If you are pulling the engine, make sure that you have already removed the radiator, otherwise when you pull the engine forward, it could go too far and smash the radiator.

Looking to pull the engine out of 95 camaro 3.4 with manual tranny does it come out the bottom or the top?

You can pull that engine out of the top. It is easier to drop the engine cradle, remove the drive shaft firs, and wiring harness. There should be four bolts located on the cradle at four locations. Lower the cradle with 2 jacks one on each side, lift the car and slide cradle from under the car. i have done this with an Intrige and was easier than trying to pull from the top.

Engine removal

What is your question.? It should come out with the converter still bolted to the eng flywheel. If your pulling a front wheel drive vehicle motor you drop the trans out the bottom first, then pull the engine. You can also drop both together by dropping the support cradle. That is the best way and the way it was built and done in a dealership in some cases. Trans got go to have roon

How do i take clutch fork out. trying to

Im assuming its 5speed, just remove the cables/line, no need to remove the clutch fork out to separate the tranny from the motor, clutch fork only work the throw-out bearing, it stay with the transmission; it little stubborn sometime for both to seperate from one another. just make sure the tranny is well balance and not hanging from the motor while trying separate the two. it will be very difficult trying to pull the tranny away from the motor if its not on the correct level and height and must not have no weight on the transmission shaft. You have to slide the tranny straight out and level from the flywheel, tranny shaft has to come out straight and same way when reinstall.

Caravan engine removal

The recommended way is to unhook and unbolt every thing and support engine and transaxle in a cradle, then raise vehicle up until you can remove the engine/trans from underneath.

Engine replacement

I thought all '87 FWD corolla's were 1.6l 4ac engines like mine. SOHC 2bbl Carb. Well in any case, I just did this with mine. You do have to drop the ball joint on the driverside to get the short shaft out, and then the tranny. the Passenger side cv shaft can stay put. You can then pull the engine out the top. Not enough clearance to pull just the engine or to pull both cause of the driverside manual tranny mount sticking out of the fender over the tranny. The easiest way is to drop both out of the bottom together, but the car needs to be high enough off the ground. Can't pull just the engine with a manual because of the shaft that goes in the clutch. if it were an auto sure, just unbolt the torque converter, sepereate the tranny, and pull the motor straight up. Watch out for the water pump pulley.

Replacing transaxle (automatic) 1996 tercel SE

Hold the engine up with a support cradle, and pull the trans out from the bottom. This is how we do it here. Fast and easy. Pulling the engine is a waste of time.
