Yes it is very likely it is a fuel pump sticking, to verify this buy a can of spray starter fluid, next time it won't start spray the starter fluid into theintake air hose on the engine, if it starts and then quickly shuts down u need a fuel pump, also replace the filter.

there is internal fuel pump in gas tank as well. usually when going bad they will sometimes work and sometimes not. older pumps went out all at once. need to have fuel pressure checked and can do it yourself if you have some guages. on the fuel rail there is a valve for checking the pressure. look up the specs for your car and see what it says.

Don't you always start will check light issues first,
& resolve them?

There are codes sometimes even without check lights
You need a professional scanner or PC Scan Software

The fuel pump may be seizing up mechanically or have an
elcetrical issue, such as worn out. Again an Oscilloscope would
be nice there also

electrical is the weakest link-you may have a computer with issues and before replacin a reprogram should be considered--what did vehicle scan tell you? Data recorders are often placed in cars that show no codes--Older cars can have solenoids and components that heat up and stop engine--if theres a distributer cap-inspec for corrosion

Have you relapced the fuel pump and filter? Take it to a garage and have the fuel pump pressure checked. It very common for fuel pumps or a clog in the line to cause this.

Car starts and runs for about 10-15 seconds and then stops, seems to be starving for gas. Is this a fuel filter, if so where are filters located??

it sounds as if your fuel pump is bad. depending on how many miles you have on the car, the fuel filter may be clogged. this is usually located along the back of frame rail, usually on the right hand side. replacing this is the cheapest and quickest fix. most people tend to forget the fuel filter, and i've seen cars with over hundred thousand miles and still have the original filter.

1995 Contour V6 will drive just fine for miles, than will stall coughs and sputters. Restarts after it sits for awhile, an hour or more. Than will drive fine. Help! This car is driven by my grand daughter

First question...
Have you replaced the fuel pump on this car?

If so, was it a ford/motorcraft fuel pump or an aftermarket one?

Ford had issues with their fuel pumps in that they had to use double seals in them. Cheaper aftermarket pumps don't always do this. So they go into vapor lock, basically they lose their prime.
It usually happens on warmer days, but not always when the pump heats up.

So when this happens again, check for fuel pump operation. Turn the key and listen for the pump to turn on and pressure up. If no noise, you have a faulty pump. If it does, the pressure may be too low for the injectors to pass fuel to the cylinders...

I had this problem on my 88 taurus wagon when stationed in England. Once I replaced the pump with a ford/motorcraft one the problem never recurred.
