Go to Autozone and have them read the computer for any fault codes. The scan should at least point to the general area of the problem. Don't resort to just replacing parts until it works.

I have a 2000 4.3 liter vortec and its showing a misfire on number 5 and i have checked all the basics and then some. it hesitates trying to start except for first thing in the morning

It could be a fuel or compression problem that is causing your misfire. To eliminate a clogged injector as a possible cause, you can swap injectors between cylinders and see if the fault follows the injector in question. Or it could be a fouled or incorrectly gapped spark plug causing the misfire. Do a compression check with the engine warm, preferably right after a misfire event.

Miss on # 5 cylinder have performed comprestion

compression.

What is the problem? #5 is missing? Do you have spark for #5...Injectors don't fire. Never did never will Injectors "inject" fuel to the cylinders.

P0305 cylinder misfire in 96 chevy z71 k1500 5.7 vortec

i would not spend the money on heads w/out diagnosing # 5 misfire. misfire is caused by many different things. i would first start by verifying in fact #5 is at fault. start engine, with it running and using well insulated plyers, pull each wire off dist. cap one at a time. you will notice the engine missing worse each one you pull until you reach the one causing the miss. this wire, when pulled, will not change the evident missing cylinder. if it is #5, check spark, at spark plug end. stick a small screwdriver or equivilent in the removed boot, and place it a cm away from a ground source. start engine. observe spark. should be nice and blue, and ark a good inch from ground. if no spark, swap a wire and check again. if still no spark replace cap and rotor. if their is spark, make check plug. even though new, its easy to crack porcilan installing it. try another plug. if still a miss, start engine with plug removed, breifly, and compression should be evident. strong popping noise of compressed air. a compression gauge is the proper test ( 4 strokes 125 psi) but if audible compression is heard without a doubt, more than likely fine. w spark and compression seeming ok, next is possible fuel, (injector) or intake leak, leaning ouy cylinder. try this and let me know. 1998 altima runs fine idol hesitates &sputters under load

You may have a check engine light on which would require you to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. The codes would help direct you or a mechanic on what to test.
A cylinder miss could be ignition, fuel, or something mechanical.

I have done a tune upand my car still feels like it has a miss. can you help please.

I WOULD PERFORM A COMPRESSION TEST ON ENGINE. IF RESULTS ARE GOOD AND THE ENGINE IS FUEL INJECTED I WOULD CHECK THE INJECTORS.YOU CAN PULL ONE SPARK PLUG AT A TIME TO FIND THE PROBLEM CYLINDER. ONCE FOUND SWAP INJECTORS FROM A KNOWN GOOD CYLINDER AND IF THE GOOD CYLINDER ACTS UP THE INJECTOR IS BAD.

P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected

When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

When is the code detected?
- Engine Cylinder #5 and #6 is Misfiring.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/loss of power
- Hard start
- Engine hesitation

Possible Causes:
- Improper spark plug at cylinder #5 and #6
- Insufficient compression at cylinder #5 and #6
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- The injector circuit is open or shorted at cylinder #5 and #6
- Fuel injector #5 and #6 may be faulty
- Intake air leak at cyli

Possible Solution:
- Perform Injector Service
- Replaced Spark Plug #5 and #6
- Replaced Injector #5 and #6
- Replaced Ignition Coil #5 and #6

Hope helps.

1998 chevy blazer

Well there could be many reasons for tht.In the 98 blazer they are using 8 injectors in the gulf modles i think its the same around there . did u have a pressure check for the cylinder n05. if the pressure is ok.then check the injector harness buy unpluging the number five while the vehicle is start and warm.conect it back and check the other injector if u feel there was no change to the idle while u unpluged the injuctor num5 so i guess u need to clean the injector by taking them out you need a complete tune up by romoving ur injectors and manually checking it. Reffer to a machanic or replace tht injector if u think u can do it.. i think its a better job to be done by an expert case wrong installation can lead to a vehical fire...

The code reads P 306 misfire on cylinder 6. How

A P0306 code means that the car's computer
has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #6.

Symptoms may include:
the engine may be harder to start
the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
other symptoms may also be present

Causes

A code P0306 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.
